Creating keepsakes Broderbund Software

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Scrapbooking software from Broderbund that is affiliated with CK? I use PSP (9 and now X) but thought it could be good to recommend to people with limited knowledge that want to quickly scrap on the computer. I also noticed that it boasts 1200 fonts. I have gotten software before with big numbers that somehow turned out not to be really what was in the package--just not all it cracked up to be. I was wondering if I could get more insight into the 1200 fonts it has.

I have used the creating keepsakes scrapbook designer deluxe for over a year now and love it. It is very user friendly. I can use all of the kits I purchase in the program and found the only real limitation was that I couldn't create many of my own elements. I am now using DIP and PSE3, but use the creating keepsakes software when I want to do quick pages (not as many steps involved as in the graphics software). As far as the fonts, some of the 1200 I already had on my computer. There are quite a few creating keepsakes fonts as well as a few others I didn't have. I think it is a great program for people of all abilities. Hope this helps.

Yeah.. the software is what it is.. a very simple introduction to craeting a layout. Personally, I would rather use a full featured paint program with all the power and flexbility.. these "all in one" type packages lack all that (no filter support, addons, macros, layers, etc).

1200 fonts.. well.. I could grab them easily at all the free font sites anyway so no biggie there.

But.. if someone likes it.. that is all good too. Good LUck!

I have used Creating Keepsakes and Hp Creative Scrapbook Assistant I like the Hp software. It is very easy to use and I can use my kits in it. But they are both good programs for beginners.

Yes, I'd rather use the full featured set too, but I am asking if it is a good program for those who don't want that much complexity or aren't that skilled to be able to use something like PSP or PSCS. I love PSP but would love to get PSCS (or CS2) someday and learn to use it. I don't think it is $500 better than PSP though, which is why I haven't bothered so far. We'll see if that ever happens-LOL

Have you actually tried the program to know what fonts are on it and if they are easily found for free (although I know there are a lot of GOOD free fonts to be found on the web, which is soooo nice)? Just curious if the fonts are anything to write home about. It always seems like those advertisements with giant numbers like that aren't really so great when you go and buy the software.

Thanks, that is good to know, esp that you can use kits/elements beyond what is offered in the software package.

Can you tell me if any of the fonts are easily found as freebies on the web, as Pesto said? I didn't think the CK fonts were free anywhere (unless maybe someone is posting them illegally, as I know can happen).

Thank you. I noticed Hp had software too but just thought maybe the Broderbund might be good since it is endorsed by CK. I have some family members that are interested in Digiscrapping but I know would NOT want to put in the time it takes to learn a "richer" program and would love to be able to create pages quickly with some more basic programs. I also have some fam that are very, very technologically challenged and would be so totally overwhelmed by the more powerful programs. They need some serious "dummy proof" software (not that they are dumb though!). Thanks again for your input.

Absolutely, I think it's great for those just starting out. It's where I was at this time last year. I knew nothing about digiscrapping and the program is sooo simple. Then about early summer I was getting bored with it's elements or lack of them. So I started searching on the web and couldn't believe what was out here that I was missing out on :-) So I started using my old Microsoft Picture it for layouts this fall. Now I want to move on to something more current. . . . .

As far as the fonts go, there are a lot of CK ones, but I wouldn't just buy the program for it's fonts. . . . . .
