Filter???

What is a filter?

Someone asked me if I had used a filter on a layout I did and I had no idea what it was.

Amy - a filter is like a "shortcut" of doing something.... for instance... for photoshop I use a B&W filter that someone created. I use it instead of just the "greyscale" option since it was designed to do it fast and with 3 different incredibly wonderful level of B&W...

Or there is one that creates different textures to your backgrounds... like in my LO of "I Love Being Your Mother" I used a canvas filter for that to make it look textured...

Hope this helps

LOL, Tina. I don't. I did a search when you first asked but couldn't come up with anything. I think you may be able to purchase some sort of add-on pack with filters (effects) and what not through Microsoft, but I didn't come across any free download sites

Aren't filters the same as plug-ins? I think so! If you search for plug-ins you will find a ton.

Here's a link - I hope it works:
http://graphicssoft.tqn.com/cs/paintshoppro/
It also had a tutorial how to install the plug-ins.

Another link:
http://showcase.netins.net/web/wolf359/plugins.htm

and the last:
http://www.putertutor.net/paint/morestuf.htm

I installed a few I downloaded (for free - but I don't remember where) and here are the names (might make it easier to find):
Eye Candy 3.1
Almathera
Graphics Plus
Xenofex 1.0

Usually Photoshop plug-ins work for Paint Shop Pro too! If you need help, contact me.

Good luck

Ivonne

Filters are the same as plugins (at least for photoshop) but many I find only have limited capabilities unless you purchase them (like eyecandy and almathera) If you can use these completely, please tell me where you downloaded them from!!!

Thanks
