Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Holiday...

I'm sorry I've missed chatting with you all lately so much, this past week...

I will probably be out a lot the next week or 2 also. We had a rough holiday in this home. My DH and I made our 1st attempt to go out for the big Black Friday Shopping Frenzy(never done this before) and probably never will again after our story.

Please be praying for my DH and Me... I am just a bit emotional since I was the one driving, but a lady pulled out in front of us at 7:15 ish, and I slammed the brakes to avoid hitting her broad side. My DH reached out towards the dashboard to brace himself, and we both heard a snap... We thought he just dislocated his pinky the way it looked, but after the ER visit discovered he broke it. They say they found what is basically a benign tumor(cyst) that grows inside the bones in the fingers and toes... It is semi rare bone thing called Enchodrome(sp?) but he was apparently born with this defect(for lack of a better term) They say they are surprised he hadn't broke it earlier in life since he plays the piano and draws and paints so much. It was his left hand and he is left handed(so I felt really bad) DH says it wasn't my fault and says he forgives me if that's what I feel I need, but he doesn't believe I should feel it was my fault and bare this burden, that it was a God thing.

They say they usually don't determine someone has this condition until they're a lot older and it's more progressed, and the fact that it broke, gives them the opportunity to do surgery and get it back to better condition than it ever was in, since he's still so young he'll heal faster from it.

Anyways, tomorrow we go for surgery, they will scrap the tumor, do a bone graft from his hip, replace the empty area with healthy bone tissue(??), put a couple screws/pins in and sew him back up, and in about 8 weeks he should be almost back to full use... and then he'll just have to be careful for the next 6-8 weeks at the piano, and other things where he would normally over stretch/exert that finger... Please be praying that his surgery goes well tomorrow, that he doesn't have any issues with the anesthesia, etc, and that he comes home tomorrow feeling ok, and no pain... I appreciate all of your prayers in lifting us up in this situation.

Oh Shawna! Big hugs all around! I know you must feel terrible, but really, it was just an accident You couldn't control that lady pulling out in front of you! Trust in the Lord - all things happen for a reason and perhaps this was really a blessing (as far as finding out about your dh's diagnosis). Nonetheless, praise the Lord in all things and more hugs! Glad you guys are otherwise safe from that near-accident! It could have been sooooo much worse!

Big prayer going out! Amazing that this accident sounds like something good is able to come from it. I know it hasn't been fun, but hopefully your hubby's hand will be stronger than ever because of it! Please don't feel guilt about the accident. I think it goes to show that you were a really responsible driver, and because you were paying attention, you avoided a really major accident. Please keep us posted. We'll be thinking of you!

Oh Shawna-
I'm so sorry that you guys are going through this! Remember- everything happens for a reason- God is in control. You cannot change anything by feeling guilty or by worrying. If that woman hadn't pulled out in front of you, you still wouldn't know that your DH has this condition.

This verse always helps me through rough times- even though it's easier said than done.
