Is there a gadget for scoring cardstock to fold into cards?

I know that I could print on ready-scored specialist cardstock, and that I can do this the old-fashioned way using a straight metal rule, but what I really want is a gadget I can put flat cardstock (reasonably heavy -- around the same weight as commercially-available greeting cards) in, wiggle a lever and have it come out neatly scored in a straight line in the right place for folding.

It sounds like the sort of thing that someone should have invented and there should be a demand for, but I can't find one anywhere.

I have something similar to what you want. It's a block of wood with grooves cut in for the various widths of card. You just score the card with an embossing tool or bone folder to give a nice, neat line for folding. I know there are a few similar things on the market in the UK so I'm sure there must be something like this in the US. Have you tried your local craft shops?

If you can't find anything just PM me and I can get you the link for a shopping TV website here that sells them.

You can purchase a replacement scoring blade to go on your cutter. I got mine from a Close To My Heart consultant, but they are available in scrapping stores and if you have the large cutters that take circular blades, I have even seen the blades at office supply stores. The one thing to remember when using these .... LIGHT PRESSURE. It is easy to press to hard and cut through the cardstock.

There is also an item...

called a Bone Folder, they run about $6-7 in US dollars, and you can get it at Michaels' and most crafrt stores...

Personally I use my scoring blade on my large fiskars cutter, that someone else recommended, to me it is easier to get an exact straight line from the edge...

With over 20 years in the graphic design biz, I'll pass along this handy tool I have used for years to score board. It is the best and least expensive, too: a jumbo paper clip! That's right, it's the correct width for a score and I use it alongside my metal straight edge.

If you ever purchase any of my crafts or my computer crafting book, I include that tip in there, along with illustrations.

When I taught graphic design at a private college, I gave every student one, and they realized what a great tool it was. I learned this tip from a designer I worked with when I was pretty wet behind the ears myself and I still use a jumbo paper clip today!

I have just bought The Groovy scoring board. It has grooves for all sizes of cards and boxes, I wonder how I ever managed without it!!!
