That's it! I'm done with this apartment! *vent within*

Have you ever felt like you were fighting a losing battle? I am arachnaphobic and in the last few months we've been having an influx of spider activity (due to the season changes, if you can call it that in Arizona). I've done everything I can think of and even the monthly spraying by pest control isn't helping. We had the biggest spider I've ever seen on my wall last week, I've had spiders running out from underneath the dishwasher while I'm cleaning the kitchen and then on top of it all, I was loading up dishes that hadn't fit in the dishwasher last night and there was a dead cockroach floating in one of the dishes. I don't care whether he was dead or not. It's still gross! I swallowed by disgust and finished up, went over and started to take the garbage out of the can and saw another one of the giant spiders, dead thankfully, under the table.

After the last giant spider, which resulted in me staying up until after midnight curled up in a ball in the chair, hubby now realizes that we need a new place. It just isn't happening fast enough for me. I can't, as a person horribly afraid of spiders, live in an infested apartment anymore. It's obvious that the measures we are taking aren't working, so the only resort I can see is to get out and leave it to them!

Sorry, had to vent. My skin is still crawling right now...

Bri, vent away!! I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Best of luck finding a new place--I think I'd be getting out of there as soon as possible, too.

I'd be looking for a new place, too. And I'm not arachnophobic!

i know exactly what you mean -- and i even heard on the news a few weeks ago that that spider and scorpian population is bigger than normal so you're NOT hallucinating. We have had more than once caught thost huge things in mason jars -- scorpians and spiders both. Those big wolf spiders are so freaky!

I stepped on a scorpian about 1/5 years ago and it was horrible so really really be careful -- i went numb from the waist down and couldn't walk for 24 hours -- it was the creepiest feeling not being able to stand on your own two feet. And even scarier is that connor had walked in front of me not 3 steps and could have easily been the one who stepped on it.

so get that orkin man out there daily if you have to, and if you're in an apartment they should take care of that for you -- pester them until they are blue in the face it's their job to provide you with a safe place to live.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Kristie, I know you know what I mean first hand! LOL I remember hearing that too about the increase in population. Does it have to be in my home though!? LOL My Mom got stung a couple months ago and it got her good. It killed a lot of the tissue on one side of her knee and when she'd put pressure on it just right (like when she was down on the floor with the kids), she'd collapse. Other than that, it was just numb and she got REALLY sick about a week after. I think she's pretty much healed now though, but it's still scary.

I said the other night in chat that I was about ready to sleep in my car...my car is looking more and more inviting all the time! LOL

I hope you find a new apartment soon. I don't blame you for being upset. I probably would be sleeping in my car also.

You poor thing!! I can fully empathize with your bug problem... When I had my own townhouse after my divorce in Virginia Beach, we had a problem with "water bugs". At least that's what the Orkin man called them, but trust me, they were just HUGIGANTIC cock roaches!!!!!! It was awful!!!! These bugs must have been 6 inches big.... eeeeeeeewwwwwwwww!!!!! I was never so glad to move out of that place!!!!

bugged

Bri,

I live down in Sahuarita. I'm in a brand new house. I've had all KINDS of bug... including an infestation of Africanized Bees!. It's one of those things you get in southern Arizona this time of year.

Fortunately, we still have one cat (MY cat died in April.) She's not as good at keeping the bugs down as my other cat was, but she helps some.

I empathize. I'm not fond of the critters either!
