Hey all, I'm stumped. My husband's friend has invited us to come by for his daughters birthday... she's going to be 13 or 14 i think. I don't even remember what girls like at that age... not to mention I'm sure my thoughts would be a bit dated in comparassion to now-days. So, my question...

What is a suitable gift for someone that age? I have no idea her likes/dislikes/hobbies, etc. So I need a generalized gift.

Kristi! If she's a girly girl she'll be into her hair and nails and stuff. How about a nail kit with some hip nail color? Failing that a gift certificate to the BX? Good luck..

gift certificates you can't go wrong with but most girls that age like bath and body type stuff but not all. CD's are always good for teenagers but you might not know what she likes. so i'd say a gift certificate or body stuff like Anna said.

I have a 14-year old dd. And I'd say Annna and MissTanya are both right on. If she gets bath stuff, she'll use it. But she definitely prefers something she can SPEND. Gift certificates, cash, etc. I see you're in Japan, so I don't know what's available. But I'd recommend GCs for CD's, movies or accessories from a store like Claires, if you have to get specific.

These are all great suggestions. Girls that age love to shop!
The only other suggestion I have is a gift book. They pick out the gift they want which you already paid for and then the gift is shipped to them. I have used them before and there is some awesome choices in those books.
