Update: as of 8pm CST

Dad is stable, and hasn't had any more episodes like this morning. They still don't know what caused it, but they have ruled out his Leukemia as the cause. The CT scan came back clean, so it wasn't a blood clot or brain bleed. His heart is beating irregularly, so he is still being monitored by the ICU for that.

We were blessed to have the Doctor and nurse that we had caring for him today, as they really looked after my Dad well. My cousin is the nurse for his area tonight, so my Dad will be well cared for again. I know that she will also contact me if there are any problems instead of calling my Mom who can't drive anyways.

I just got home from dropping off Mom at their acreage, and DH has now gone to pick up our girls from his parent's place at the lake. It's going to be a long night, but better that we go through it with the girls by our sides (plus we are expecting nightmares tonight after what happened). Mom is handling it quite well, and has not needed to take a nitro pill yet. I will be keeping in close contact with her, and pick her up again as soon as we are allowed back to check on Dad, if not earlier.

Thank you all for keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers.
We all appreciate it more than you could possibly realize.

I'll post another update as soon as more test results come in.

Mom called the ER at 8am this morning to see how he was doing. They were just changing staff again, but it sounded like he had a good night and was eating well this morning. I'll take the girls in at 2pm when they allow visitors as Sloan really needs to see her Grandpa. At that point I will find out more info from the Doctors (they have to tell me since I signed the papers to admit him)

We've made arrangements so the girls can hang out at DH's computer store if the hospital gives us grief about too many visitors, plus DH doesn't have any service calls out of town so he can come home if needed.

update: 3:00pm CST (Friday)

The girls and I just got back from our first visit today with my Dad. He is looking better, but very tired.
We left when he started repeating himself as that is a sign he was sleepy.

After his nap, the male nurse will be trying to get him up walking while he is still wearing the heart monitor. They have still not been able to duplicate what happened yesterday, but will continue to try and figure out why he collapsed. He might be discharged tomorrow if nothing else shows up, so I might have to go and have a chat with his doctor this afternoon. I seriously have to find out if we need to remove all of the lawnmowers, garden tillers/tools and vehicles from their property because if they are there, he will use them (we had to do that for my Grandma many years ago).

It is horribly hot here today, so we'll wait a bit before I go and pick up my Mom. She is better off in her air-conditioned home, and we don't need her to have an episode as well. I will post again after mom and I go to visit.
