what are you getting your mom

I'm always at such a loss for Mother's Day. Our tastes are so different it's hard for me to pick something out for her.

This year, I'm getting her a Healthy Back Bag - she had mentioned to me after seeing mine, that she'd like to have one.

But I'm concerned it's the wrong color or size. I wanted to get her red, but I couldn't find one that color in my budget. And knowing her she won't tell me if she doesn't like it so we can return it. She'll just pretend she loves it and then won't use it.

Mothers day I usually do something less birthday and more handmade... sentimental. The biggest hit ever was when i did flower arrangements... Both mom and MIL loved them. I am thinking about doing that again. We have also done family gifts for things like jewelry and trips. But mostly it is a card and candy or photos or scrapbooks.

I'm getting my mom a book this year. I know she is interested in the topic, so I think she will read it. I might also get her some flowers for her yard--she loves to have a bloom-filled landscape. Gift buying can be so tricky

At 76 my mom pretty much has everything she wants (unless its more shoes) LOL. I'm going to try my hand at the hybrid card from NSD and probably a gift card to Olive Garden - one of her favorite places to eat.

I have been working on a quilt for my mom, not sure it will be done in time though.

MIL is getting a alterted journal, notepad and pen set, with a gift card to Borders bookstore.

Potted flowers are a good idea. I was going to send flowers, but she'd like the plantable kind.

My mom looks forward to homemade fudge. Been a standard for years. MIL gets a card and a phone call. We've never done much to go overboard at Mother's Day. When asked they just say they don't need anything.
