Instant Bruising lately?

Is it normal to bruise instantly? I know this sounds bizarre. But the other day I was hit with a softball and yes, it was a line drive and expected it would bruise for sure (which it did in a BIG WAY); but I've also noticed that the other day I kinda of dinkned my hand it bruised right away. Then today I barely bumped into my office chair and not my foot has a big bruise on the top of it and it's like INSTANT.... not like how my bruises usually are and show up a day or two later and I have no idea what I did cuz it was a few days ago (LOL).

Thought some of you might have some input on it

Do you have any other unusual symptoms? Dizziness, nose or gum bleeds, etc.? Are you taking any medication specifically blood thinners like aspirin or ibuprofen?

I have heard that taking certain supplements or medications (like Dena asked) can cause bruising to happen more easily. Also, we tend to bruise more easily with age. I only know this because I was recently bruised by a cactus poke (I think it punctured a vessel) and was doing some research. If you are really concerned Amy, you should try calling the nurse at your doctor's office. I know bruising can be a sign of leukemia or blood clotting, but I believe it would be more generalized in one area, and you would definitely have other symptoms. Some people just bruise easily. I remember my mom, for example, once getting a bruise on her legs from her small dog jumping onto her lap.

I've always been an easy bruiser. I'm not sure if I bruise "instantly" but I also run into things all the time. I've gotten bruises on the back of my legs from leaning against things. My mom is the same way.

I've heard it's usually low iron that causes you to bruise so easily.

Oh Amy how scary this must be. It seem to me that if this just started to happen that it may be some change you've recently made as others have suggested, either something new you've added or something you've taken away. Did you check WebMed?
