My dd has a competition she may be attending at the end of June in Orlando Florida; where do you all typically find the best airfare and how far in advance to purchase, etc.???

For DH's trips we used Expedia and the prices were pretty good. I suggest checking things out online and you can also call the airlines direct saying that you found this price online is there anything they can do or any discounts available. I always but them as soon as I have dates confirmed. I've had prices change significantly overnight.

I've used expedia before. Our recent trip to Las Vegas, I bought direct from SW airlines.

I'd just shop around as soon as you know when you'll be going

I usually start my search with expedia and then check the actual airlines. SOME times it turns out cheaper to buy from the airline, and sometimes not. Some times it's just the $4 savings from not using expedia's service, plus you may get extra miles from the airline.

Some newer discount airlines to check out (not sure if these are available for you) are AirTran and Allegiant Air. These you have to just go to their own website's like Southwest because they don't come up on Expedia.

I don't know if I'm even going to let her go - it's expensive just to go to a competition - @ this point I don't care if the instructor is mad or not; it's the end of season and that is just a lot of money to go to ONE competition!
