OMG, my HOUSE just shook!!

I'm sitting here working on my layout for my chat later today and all of a sudden my chair started moving, then the computer monitor, everything down stairs...MY WALLS!!

I heard a strong wind and got an eeeearrrry feeling. I was thinking...there's no way that wind blew my house so hard that the BASEMENT shook and MY chair!

I ran upstairs and the pictures on the walls were still shaking a bit. I woke up dh and said "OMG, Eric..the HOUSE just shook, like an earthquake. Did you feel that?" Of course he's so out of it and wasn't awake he just looked at me like I'm crazy and said no, and then rolled over and went back to sleep! LOL

Ok, so now I live in central IL and I've not felt an earth quake since I was in grade school and lived in Alaska. I honestly can't say I even remember what it felt like, it was so lon ago.

So, I came back down stairs and turned the TV to the local news...within a few minutes, they confirmed that YES there was some sort of tremmer or something here in our area and they felt it too (shew, at least I'm not crazy!). They have confirmed it was an earthquake and are trying to get additional information about where and how strong.

Wow...if you've never experienced an earthquake....it's very unnerving!

Sarah, that must have been scary. A lot of people here in TN felt it too, according to the news, but not as much as that.

I just saw this on the news this morning - it must have been pretty scary for you. Too funny though about the DH - that's exactly what mine would do to.

I saw that on the news too! It would have been scary, but I kind of wish we could have felt it here. That's the closest we've ever come to having one as far as I know. It sure would shake things up a bit around here (pun intended, haha!).

It's the New Madrid Fault line. This was the same fault line on which the worst earthquake in US history in 1812. The one that created Reelfoot Lake and made the Mississippi River appear to flow backward. Scary? Definitely.
