Something I have never experienced and never will where I live. It must have been very scary. Thank goodness there was no serious damage.

No kidding! My mom said she was talking on the phone and the light fixtures started swinging, but she lives on the West Coast which is understandable!

How scary, Sarah! I've never felt an earthquake, though we've had a few minor ones through the years (I always seem to be asleep.), but they say that someday we'll have a big one here. I hope it never happens. Glad it was small for you.

Well I went to bed about an hour and a half after this lovely experience! LOL I turned the tv to the news to see what was going on and eventually they did confirm it was an earthquake of 5.2 (well it was 5.4 before I went to bed and now it's 5.2) magnitude. Apparently there have been a few aftershocks, the largest being 4.6 about 10 am, but I was asleep this time and didn't feel that. My dh said he was in the shower about that time and didn't feel anything.

I wonder if I felt more of this morning because I was in the basement. I wonder if the basement shakes more becaauest is IN the ground.

My house is actually a split level. My basement is the ground level at the front of the house, so 1/2 of what would be my basement is the garage. My main level to my house is upstairs. From the back of the house, my main level is ground level and the basement is under ground. We're built into a hill.
