It's a woman who changed to being a man, but kept the female reproductive organs and used a donor sperm. He had legally become a man and all but choose to keep the female insides. So technically medically, he's a woman.

I'm confused. If she wanted to be a man, then why did she want to get pregnant - for the novelty?. That seems contradictory to me. I'm always one to live and let live, but this is just bizarre to me.

I watched part of the Oprah show with this man yesterday. He said he kept his female reproductive organs because he had always wanted children and didn't want to limit his options in the future. His wife cannot get pregnant, so him being pregnant was their best option to have children without adopting. But, although this man is legally a man and appears to be a man as far as outward appearance goes, he was born a woman. As such, I don't see why this is such a medical marvel. It's not as if a man spontaneously grew a uterus and got pregnant, or had a uterus implanted and got pregnant, or was born a man with a uterus. He was born a woman and, therefore, had all the female organs. So, there you go. It's a life choice, and I guess a little strange and interesting, but not miraculous by any means.

Thank you for being sensitive and accepting to the LGBTIQ community. You spoke the words I wish so many others would.

When I first saw this man (woman) I thought it had to be something like this...and it was. It looks a bit strange, though! But Good for them and I'm sure they'll love this baby to bits!!!

As an MD, it is not a marvel. Medically/Genetically speaking, it is just another woman having a child. He has what is called gender identity disorder (the term disorder can be argued) http://www.webmd.com/sex/gender-identity-disorder. Hope the info helps.
