Award for the worse mommy of the year

Is going to ME!
After our easter vacation away I had a load of laundry. so this morning I took a pile of laundry up to the attick and inserted it to my washer. Now I took to little so there was still some room in the washer. Since Jeroen sleeps up the attick I walked into his room and took the first pair of jeans I stumbled on and placed them in the washer. turned it on and went downstairs to the bathroom. Jeroen was done washing and brushing teeth and went to the attick to get dressed. From upstairs he jells mom where's my Cars?
so I replied in the washer.
He screamed and jelled at me did you check my pockets?
and I told him I didnt....
Turns out his cellphone and Ipod where both in his pockets

The machine just stopped so I ran upstairs to load the dryer and the washer again, and there they are both the ipod and cellphone. I have taken the cellphone apart battery off and such, and hopefully it will dry....his Ipod isnt going on anymore but it doesnt sound wet or anything.

I'm so so sad the poor boy, with our little weekend away and all those spendings that we did there I truly can not afford to replace his phone and ipod right now... So he will have to wait a few more weeks.

Oh, no.....how sad. We've had things like that happen at our house, too. Hope you can get everything working again

So sorry that this happened. Maybe they'll dry out and be okay.

Oh dear! I guess it's a reminder to check pockets for everyone, not just the person who does the laundry. The worst I've done is washed tissues, coins and shrunk DH's cashmere sweater

Carin, I don't know if it will help but I heard a lady with this same issue call into the Kim Komando show a couple weeks ago. (Kim has a radio talk show about "all things digital.) Kim suggested, putting the phone/ipod in a ziplock bag filled with dry rice. The rice will absorb the moisture from the devices. I've never tried it, but it may be worth a shot.
