As God is my witness, so did I! After all it's Easter! BTW, Happy Easter everyone! And then I also thought what else can happen to us on holidays? The car broke down summer 2006, whilst on the way to our holiday destination, bang on in the middle, we beat up two thieving Spaniards last summer, and another Spaniard forgot we have rented out his appartment, and on the day of our arrival went to his friend's wedding (same hol). Then last year on a trip with the kids at Easter weekend we dramatically lost our way and a few hours of our lives... Now I am not talking about 2005 when we ended up on stage with the opera singers waltzing, and the drive to England, when the car had become intimately acquainted with a concrete bollard, ... In short we yet have to have an uneventful holiday, I am looking forward to that one! So this time it started with good intentions which at the end of the day saved us... We decided to leave our car to our carless friends, so that they could enjoy the freedom of movement whilst we are away, enjoying Paris... So we didn't even leave the village yet, 5 minutes into the trip, I get out of the car to collect our friend, who would like to keep the car for a week, and then there is a strange noise from outside, and yelps of something to do with "cancel the vacations", and we find my dh who is in principle a very cautious driver wrecking the wheel and the front of the car on somebody's wall giving way on the side road that I saw used twice in three years!

Luckily those friends of ours have their parents visiting, so we got a lift from them to the airport, thus did not have to cancel the trip alltogether, but fancy that, now they are lumbered with the car, that they had last week, and hoped to have this week, and they have to fix it to use it! What rotten luck! And they are such nice people, that I know they will go out of their way to fix it and all... We had to leg it fast, as we were running somewhat latish for the plane... I can't believe it, I only hope it can't get worse, we want a proper holiday with Louvre, and Micky Mouse, no more trouble for us, thanks! Wish us luck! Happy Easter!
