I am glad I have you guys to vent to. Being in a marriage is not sharing every single bit of emotion with your other half, he can do without me nagging too, now we have found out from that lovely friend of ours who gave us a lift to the airport, thus uncancelling our vacations, and took trouble to look into the matter of car, it turned out the front axle is gone, the car IS indeed undrivable, so it is the bus and the train on the way home for dh, and no music lessons for the kids, as we are now literally stuck up the hill... I was still hoping it was only the matter of the wheel, when I wrote. Keeping in mind the stationary wall and creeping husband in attempt to free the road mounting the stone wall, I can't believe it, after the house purchase, it would mean this is our last holiday in a few years to come, and more stingy saving and counting every penny to be able to afford another car in two-three years time, and no renovations to the delapidated house that is now ours! Oh, Grief! And it looked like it was looking up for us for the first time in the 9 years!!! What did we do to deserve this?!

At least you have each other, right? Maybe all the bad is over and it'll be more pleasant from here on out. So sorry things are rough!

It seems our lives were like that for the first few...lost a home, a car, a business...basically bankrupt, but we did make a new start. It seemed like it took forever to payoff our debts (6-1/2 years) but we did it! Every penny! You should have seen the little brown car we drove....oh my! the kids started to work at age 15, buying all their own clothes, eye glasses, etc.
But these last few years have gone better. I went back into nursing, and have been at it 10 years now. 12 years ago (at age 42) we bought our own house, and hopefully will be paid off in the next 7. I now have my own car, and in 2006 we bought a new Goldwing Touring motorcycle, and a 2007 Dodge Nitro. We took a wonderful holiday last year...all paid for and will be going again this June...all paid for in advance. My DD is getting married this summer and I have been able to pay for a great number of things!!! Our nest is empty and we have money now! Never thought I'd see the day after such lean years in the beginning. Maybe we won't have millions to retire with, but we are still together; our kids are wonderful and know how to work hard; and we are all immensely happy! Much to be thankful for!
