Question Locks of Love

Has anyone ever donated their hair to Locks of Love before?

I am getting my hair chopped off on Saturday and donating it to Locks of Love. I love my long hair, but it's gotten to the point where it's too long and is completely unmanageable. I have probably 16-18 that I will be cutting off. My hair right now is down to almost my behind. I am a little nrevous, but also very excited. I am so tired of wearing my hair in a scrunchie or butterfly clip all day long. I can't wait to actually be able to style it again!

I'm planning on taking before, during, and after pics so that I can scrap the experience And you know I'll be sure to share!

Yep, I've done it once and my dd has done it two times now. She LOVES growing her hair out to donate it. I always miss her long beautiful locks, but she looks cute every time and it just gives me the biggest smile to know she is so thoughtful.

I've scrapped both of my dd's hair cuts, but I don't think I've every scrapped my own yet.

Don't be scared to do it...you'll look fabulous, you'll feel GREAT for the wonderful gesture you're doing, and it will always grow back.

Those are GREAT layouts! I'll only have the before, and after pics, really. I'm taking my camera with me, but I'm not sure what kind of shots I'll be able to get of her actually cutting the hair off (I'm leaving dh at home with the 3 boys!). I'll try a mirror picture, though.

I did it once (I'm now in that stage where I'm debating whether I can wait for it to grow long enough to do it again or if I want to cut 3-4" off now and give up being able to donate). I actually had my husband cut the pony tail off (I put the elastic in), then went to the stylist to have it neatened into a proper haircut. They don't need to make a "pretty" cut when you're having the pony tail cut off, so if you ask the stylist, I'm sure she'll at least turn the chair so you can do a mirror shot.

Have fun with the new cut! :-)

I did it for my 35th birthday. I donated 16 inches. My hair was almost to my behind too. I was in Montana with my best friend. Dh and I were on vacation. My Best Friend had donated before so she encouraged me to do it by donating 10" a second time. The place we were at was an elite salon. The guy that did my hair was so great!!! He did the most awesome cut on me and it was all for FREE just because I donated he said. He knew I lived in another state... but he said that didn't matter. I gave him a $10 tip because it was the best haircut and style I had ever had. It was one of the scariest, happiest, most exciting times of my life. Since she was with me I have tons of photos to scrap of the whole time including the stylist. I want to go back to MT when my hair is long enough again and have him do it all over, lol I will say though my hair has never grown back as fast as it did after that. I had long hair most of my life... and it wouldn't grow an inch in 3 months and it's only been 2 years and my hair is 1/2 way down my back again. I would say it's growing at about an inch every month or two now. It's amazing, lol Let us know how it goes! Blessings for contributing to such an awesome cause! I really need to complete my layout about my experience but life has been nuts this past year. lol
