NSBR: colic.. OMG .. what is sleep again? I forget.

HI gang!
The dreaded colic demon has taken over my sweet chubby cheeked baby for a few months now. I am losing my hair and feel like a total zombie... our house is in pure survival mode. We sleep and eat when we can, cleaning? um no.. nobody ever died from a few dust bunnies and misc crap everywhere. My only sanity saving thing is knitting, I taught myself from the internet and took one class so if anyone is on Ravelry my id is : schmoopsie
needless to say, I haven't had time to scrap or even turn on PS
I miss everyone!
say a little lullaby prayer for me that we will get sleep soon!

Oh Dani! So very sorry to hear about the colic. My older dd went through it, but only for a few weeks. It was enough for me to want to pull my hair out and boy did I leave some very choice messages for my dh on his cell phone voice mail. He was flying late night flights (things like flights till 1 AM) and she'd start crying EVERY night about 8 or 9 PM and cry until 2 or 3 AM. He'd walk in just after she was all settled down again and think I was crazy. I swear..nothing settled her, but like a button, she'd just turn off all of a sudden. oooh I am so glad dd#2 didn't do it. Everyone told me it wouldn't last that long, but man it felt like an eternity going through it. When I look back now, I can't believe it was only a couple weeks.

Hang in there...I know it's tough. You will survive and it will eventually end. *huuugs*

Both of mine DDs had colic. The first one for for about four months and the little one was for about three weeks. I remember with DD#2, my older one would go to sleep about 8:30 p.m., little one would start crying around 9:00 and go until 5, 6, 7 in the morning, then DD#1 would wake up about 8:00 in the morning. Yes, I became insane. Hang in there--my heart goes out to you!

Ah hugs sweetie! I'm sure you've tried everything out there for colic! Are you a baby wearer? I know that is something that helped us since our arms were wearing out from all the walking/pacing/rocking/etc. It may not cure the cholic but may help you function some. Forget about the dust bunnies and the housework, its not that important!

Oh and have they ruled out acid reflux? Not that all colic is GERD but they have found that often what used to be diagnosed as colic is actually reflux due to the little valve at the top of the stomach not closing right, then eventually they grow out of it (most not all) and they are normal happy babies again. They can give medication to help with the pain from the acid in the throat (not all reflux is spitting up) and make it more comfortable for the little one. But again, not all colic is reflux either.

Mostly I am just sending you prayers for patience, sleep and relief soon! Bless you all!

Oh, I can sooo relate! My last baby didn't have colic, but he didn't want to sleep unless he was held. He didn't start sleeping well until he was nine months old! By then, I was nearly crazy! But, I survived it, and that little boy is 19 months old now, and such a happy little personality.

You can do it!!! Hang in there!
