Child sick all week....

my 7 yo has been sick with fever from Friday til Wednesday. She went back to school for the first time yesterday. But now she has developed a very stuffy nose and a cough.

I was going to send her to schoo this morning but she started crying bc she said her legs her so badly. Any insight/input on y they would be hurting her so badly? She also seems to be VERY tired still. She just woke up from sleeping all night soundly and then now within a half hour of being awake a bit ago is back to sleep again. Also, no fever currently. Normal temp.

Amy - I would definitely give your doctor a call - or if you have Ask A Nurse. Hope she gets well soon!

She's been sick for quite a while, imagine how we old pepes would feel after running a fever, etc. for almost a week. Everyone hates to hear this...but sugar and milk seem to play a big part in the congestion/cough sicknesses. That's not much help is it?

Amy, I know we don't always want to run to the doctor for every little thing, but I feel you need to see the doctor and have her checked. The flu isn't good, but the constant tiredness and her legs hurting doesn't sound right. She might have an iron deficient. You're in my prayers. As a mom of three (older children now), it just wasn't easy when they were sick when they were little.

I am with Tammy. My Dr's rule is if the fever is more than 3 days bring them in.. Sounds like she might have what my family was down with ... and it can (like my girls) just stay some random sick symptoms that go away after about a week. Or ( like my dh) turn into pneumonia or like my brother strep... fil bronchitis... you get the idea.. I hate to say it but hubby's legs where just killing him for the last week while he was down.. When i took my girls in there Dr said that this new thing can get pretty bad if you let it go to long... With my girls we lucked out... I hope you do to but get her in ASAP

Amy... please take her to the doctor. I agree the fever went on for too many days, and it may be something more than just a flu bug. Please keep us posted.

Now I feel bad, you guys are right! It just seems like my kids take twice as long getting over something than they spend sick. But considering all the flu going around, I AGREE, better safe than sorry.
