Computer Security? Seriously

I have become anal about computer security. We have virus protection, 2 spy-bot checkers and a firewall. I run the virus protection every day and the spy-bots at least once a day and everyonce in a while I run over to housecall to do their online security check. I am always stunned to see what's on my machine, especially when I run the adware. Today I ran it in the morning and had 16 threats since yesterday. I ran it again later just out of curiousity and I had 18 threats. I can always tell I need to run it when things start to run slow, but geez give me a break!

Just wanted to share, incase anyone's been putting off getting added security. You'd be shocked to see what's on your computer.

Okay PSA officially over.

WOW!! I must be doing something wrong or right, everytime I run a virus scan, ad-aware almost nothing comes up!

Hopefully it stays that way!

I agree. The scairest thing is that I generally visit the same places and don't usually wander around the web. I don't know where stuff comes from. I'm also paranoid about security because I realize just how important my computer is. I go crazy if I can't use it or the internet.

I found that I had less problems after I switched to firefox Mozilla as far as picking up stuff.
Also run DH's computer tech scans as well as running a virus scan program at all times.

With that said, as I was searching DD's computer last night for photos that she had taken this year, I found a whole bunch of nasty files that had been transferred to her computer via hello!!!! Hard deleted them and ran a full tech scan to get rid of anything else that should not have been on her computer. Lets just say that I was shocked to see exactly what crap can sneak through when you aren't looking.
