Chinese Movies? Anyone else watch any of 'em

I don't know why i enjoy them; but it's also SOOOO interesting the difference between our movies here in the US and their movies. The special effects are vastly different.

I am currently watching "House of Flying Daggers". It's pretty good so far... Of course it's entirely Madarin/Chinese so I have to occasionally read the dubs to know what is going on LOL! It stars the beautiful young girl who was in Memoirs of a Geisha.

AND IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET; Memoirs of a Geisha is one of the best movies ever!!!

I watch them occasionally...more when I was a kid living w/my parents since they watch them on video.

House of Flying Daggers is amazing...artistically it's like WOW! Amazing job!

I love Memoirs of a Geisha...I especially remember that special dance she did. I had read the book awhile ago and remember liking it.

As for the Chinese movies I used to like when I was a kid...I used to like these series of gambling movies - God of Gamblers (like Du Shen 2). Mainly for the all of a sudden awesome hands at the end lol, kwim. There was also a chinese corpse (I think it's corpses) movie that I used to love...there was a little comedy to it and kung fu. Don't ask why...but dead people's bodies don't exactly decompose. They hop around with their arms straight out (lol...it's sounding bad already, right lol), the bad corpses have fingernails that grow and they sense people when they breath...so you gotta hold your breathe lol and they'll hop right by you. Also...certain types of rice can burn them (sounding really bad now lol) and they can be contained in tombs if you make grid marks on the outside w/Chicken Blood. hahaha...doesn't sound that great written out lol

I also liked watching Jackie Chan movies way back when.

I also remember my parents watching a lot of Chinese Soap Operas. There was a really, really popular one (of course I don't remember the title...well...I know it in chinese lol) that involved kung fu, flying in the air and everything. that was the only Chinese Soap Opera (or maybe it's just a 'regular tv show') that I watched.

I'm a HUGE fan of Kung Fu Hustle--I can watch that movie over and over!!! I love both the English and subtitled versions.

I am not sure as to the origin of these films, might be elsewhere in Asia, but have you seen Hero? This is so superb, beyond dreams. And there is another one, that we are about to see Crouching tiger hidden dragon that we have heard very good reviews of...
