I don't know if anyone remembers me, or the prayer request I made back in April, but I just wanted to update everyone.

In April my dad was diagnosed with end-stage lung cancer. In May we found out it had metastasized to his brain, liver and adrenal glands. The liver and adrenal glands only had small mets, but his brain had an 8 cm lesion with swelling. I live in Canada and my family is in Indiana, so my DH and I packed up the kids and have been gone for over 3 months. When I got to Indy we had a family meeting with the doctor and decided to treat this extremely agressively even though the doctors weren't very hopeful and from everything we read about this type of cancer his prognosis was approximately 4 weeks to a couple of months. They did a very aggressive round of radiation to the whole brain - 20 sessions - and 2 "super blasts" to the spot of the lesion along with a round of chemo. When my dad went for his first post-chemo check-up the doctor said he was very pleased and that the cancer had shrunk in his lungs and liver and the adrenal glands were gone. 6 weeks later he went for his post-radiation check-up and had to have a CT scan. Now the best they hope for with the type of cancer that was in his brain is to control the swelling, spread and other symptoms. On his 72nd birthday, July 28th, he went to get the results of that CT and was told the cancer in his brain was GONE! We were in complete shock and the doctor said he had checked, checked and checked some more. First he thought that he had the wrong scan, then he thought the original scan had to have been wrong and he ended up calling in 3 other doctors to confirm that it was gone. The doctor's have called it a true miracle and I know it was. My dad isn't free from all cancer, but he has a much better outlook now.

(Now I have to get to scrappin'! I haven't been able to for more than 3 months because my parents computer is a dinosaur! LOL I've been having MAJOR withdrawls!)
