Scrappers without children

I really, really enjoy the gallery and I notice that we naturally scrap that which is closest to us. That is why there are so many wonderful layouts with children in them! I have also noticed that so many of us have user names that have the word "mommy" [or "mum" to those of use who spell it correctly ]
But...

Am I the only scrapper in the world without children? For me, given my lifestyle, kids are out of the question and that is fine... but it sure puts me in a huge minority in the scrapping world. Is there anyone else like me?

well it does seem to be a mom-dominated hobby. but you're certainly not the only one without children! there are some on the design team and many others i can think of. i'm sure they'll pop in here.
i came across a yahoo group once for non parents that didn't allow layouts of children. at first i thought it was kinda harsh, but then it did make sense. don't remember the name though and it was a paper scrapper group.
i get to feeling lonely like that when i see lots of birth pages and baby pages. we adopted at 20 months and have no pics or info, nothing! so that's sad sometimes but then i see awesome adoption pages from people like carver and that's too cool.
anyway, just wanted to say there are others, but i'll let them pipe up!! Ü

I hear ya! No kids. DH and I are planning on having one...but I've scrapped w/o any for awhile. Thankfully I have a dog to scrap!

It can be tough out there for scrappers without kids. A lot of the paper stuff is made for kid pages. I've definitely gotten flack from some store workers and other scrappers for not having kids (especially in the paper scrapping world). I went to a Creating Keepsakes convention crop once. They had all these door prizes. To narrow down the winners they would ask questions and get the scrappers to raise their hands. So, it came to "who doesn't have children?" Maybe 10 out of 450 women raised their hands. The host actually asked (with a really rotten attitude) "well, what the heck do you have to scrap?" Grrrr.

I finally turned to scrapping old pics of me as a kid to get some kid pages scrapped. But you're definitely not alone out there in scrapping land.

Wow, Suzanne, having never paper scrapped, I did not realise it was like that out there.

Ah, but then when you have your kids, I'll be all alone... [needs a crying smiley ]

I am also a scrapper who doesn't have any kids.
Most of my layouts are of family members. (little cousins of mime)
and my little goddaugher Kristen!
Therefore, my cousins better enjoy these layouts, cause when I have my baby most of my scrapping will be of her..hint: I am praying for a little girl.
I also paper scrap as well, but I find that I do much more cg scrapping. But, I think that will change when I have a baby of my own........paper scrapping is great as well.

I have never paper scrapped, nmostly because what I saw out there (my limited perception of the scrapping world) was that children where the only worth while subject. My sister, a paper scrapper and CMC, never scrapped until she had her first child. It seems children are so ingrained in the idea of scrapping, like the rest of us have nothing worth documenting? Grrr...

I scrapped our wedding. I scrap our three cats. I scrap the world around me, what I see, what it's like to be me. If these dang Kodak-photo-paper printouts last a few generations, I'd think future humans would love to see the way my city looks now, what our apartment looks like, the stuff that ends up in the blurred out backgrounds of scrapper's children pictures.

We hope to have a baby (or two, or three) someday. But that's at bare minimum a year+ away. What, I should stop having a hobby until I have a child? Something tells me when I do have a child, I won't have the time, energy or patience to scrap everyday!

I do scrap my neices and nephews, because they are a big part of my life. And they LOVE to see themselves in my books! But I have tons of layouts that don't even have people in them, let alone children.

You're not alone!

I remember my scrapping begin with layouts of my goddaughter, and then was followed by layouts of my little cousins as well.
I read Suzanne comment about what the lady said at the convention:
"why are you here and you don't have any kids!"
grrrrr.....I should have been there to reply back to her oh so silly comment!!.
Scrap booking is not just for those who have kids!
You can scrap just about every and any thing.
Scrapping is not just for Mommies!!
