Just got my issue from a store today. My pre-order has still not arrived, nor my free copy from SS.
I take a look at my ALL ABOUT THE HAT layout and just about fell off my chair. There is an entire line of text that doesn't belong, just floating on my layout!!! So I went to my out box to see what file I had sent them and this is what I determined happened.
They asked me for my layouts and being the good person that I am, I opened the document to check out all of the fonts and elements (which by the way April, I did source your hemp fibre and they never mentioned it) to give proper credit. I opened a previously made .jpg of the layout and took one look at the font and thought I recognized the font but to double check I typed out the top sentence in my journaling to match the font. Now here is the part I don't understand entirely.......but I am guessing I mistakenly saved the file, which was not even a jpg by that point but a PSD, with the flattened layout as one layer and the text as a second layer. The error continues when I go to attach a file in email and didn't notice that there were two files with the same name the folder I was browsing. I usually keep all my PSD's in a separate folder. I just grabbed the first one I saw that said All About the Hat and attached it. So I guess I sent them the PSD instead of the jpg and I never even realized.
However, the part that bugs me is that they obviously don't even look twice at the stuff they are putting in their magazine. Makes me think that next time I will make a point of plugging my CD by adding
www.scrapbookgraphics.com into the layout somewhere

I mean, it should have been obvious to them, especially when they received a PSD instead of the jpg. However, I am guessing that they just send this stuff to print without really checking and no one in the print company is going to second guess even if they did notice.
I was a little bummed when I first saw this but you know.....I don't really care that much about it. I was actually surprised by my reactions to some of my other layouts. I am never usually that critical of myself, but I didn't really dig the way my two pager
"Sunset Swim" turned out. The pages themselves show pretty good, but I have never seen them pushed side by side as if it were one page before and I didn't like that at all. See, I have never been a paper scrapper and it never really dawned on me that 2 page layouts were meant to look like one big page. For me, I have always considered the center of the book as a divider and never worried about lining things up so that they looked like one page. I do two pagers with the same theme, look and feel but they are meant to be two separate pages the second being a continuation of the story from the first. I think Sunset Swim looks crappy pushed together like that. I never would have designed things that way had I have seen the two as one large page. It just doesn't flow well that way.
Alternately, the five minute layout I did of A Father Is turned out way better than I expected. Same thing with the Womb Song layout which I really didn't like at all when I first sent it to them. Those two were done by request when they asked for a wallet sized layout and an ultrasound layout. The only thing that surprised me was they didn't put the Father Is layout in a wallet. I understood that they wanted an actual wallet size print and that "they would provide the wallet" to put it in. I actually cropped the shape and dimension of that layout to fit a wallet size image, which was tough to work with considering it is thinner.
All in all though it was is a fun experience. Everyone's stuff looks marvelous!!! Congrats to all!
