What They Don't Tell you about Motherhood...

So what don't they tell you? They don't tell you there will be days (or rather a week) like this:
On Friday Jasiah (4 month old) finally went to sleep at 3.45am, and 4.15am his brother (2yo) woke with a nightmare got him back to slep just before 5am.Im drifting off when at 5.15am his sister (10year old) came in after a nightmare and at 7am the 3 yo was up and ready to rock. ( about 2 hours interrupted sleep for me)
On Saturday we entertained 8 10 year olds for a roller skating then sleepover birthday party - they went to sleep at 3am - woke up at 6am. (about 2 hours sleep for me)
On Sunday 3year old started vomiting in the afternoon by evening the 2yo had joined her with the added bonus of explosive diarreahoea ( sleep amount for me - NONE)
On monday night things settling down, crawled in to bed just after 2am - woken up at 3am by crying baby, at 5am both 10 year old and dh throwing up at opposite ends of the house. Off to the shop at 6am because we only have one bucket and no paper towel left
Crying at 2.30am cause Im soooooooo tired - finally fall asleep. Feed baby at 4am - 6am wake up and start vomiting - dh has gone to work - at 9am ring him and beg him to come home. Crawl in to bed at 10am and sleep on and off between bouts til 7pm.
Up till 2am to get baby to sleep and day starts at 8am..

THIS IS WHAT THEY DONT TELL YOU!!!
LOL

I feel your pain. The other day a lady in from the neighborhood tracked me down to tell me that she had just taken an night job ( i work nights ) and wanted to know how i do it. I asked her do what ? She said sleep keep the house clean and have a life .. I said well that is easy. I slept 7 years ago when they drug ed me for the birth of my 1st child. My house was clean the day i moved in and i expect it to be clean again the day i move out. And i had a life....... i think..... once and hope to have one again when .... well lets be honest when i walk through the pearly gated :P What can you do. Insanity is not an option right we are moms we can do everything and never complain right.

SR, you know I feel for ya. And you know I'm on here late so if you're up and want to have a good cry you know you can always cry to me. If we lived closer I'd come over and take the kids for a day so you could get some "me" time.

Well SR, it is 3:51 am here and I have been up for 1/2 hr. Do I have little kids you may ask. No. This time is was the dogs! Old guy dog needs a drink of water and only the pond water will do. That gets the puppy up and she starts barking. I try the cookie bribe thing to no avail. One of our fences is down and they have gone to the "north fourty". So go out with flash light to track them down (pup barks incessantly outside) and the cookie bribe works. They come in. I sit down to computer because now I am awake. Realize I didn't fully close the door and old dog gets out again. Puppy follows barking and I get the flash light and start all over. forty five mins later everyone asleep but mom. Well spoke too soon. Puppy has decided to play! Between my own insomnia, dh snoring and talking in his sleep, and rebel 17 year old, well, let's just say I feel your pain! Here's a {{hug}} for you! (Puppy now barking at me wanting to play cuz old man dog asleep!) ugh!

What they don't tell you is the kids grow up and you have time to sleep again but you can't! it seems I spend most of my nights awake for some wierd reason. And now the youngest is home from college and I am not kidding I thought I heard him fall out of bed and for an instant my thought was to jump up and see if he was okay, I mean he fell, he might not be able to get back into bed. Okay, seconds later I remember he's 19 I'm pretty sure he can get back into bed. Sleep oh allusive sleep where are you?

I feel for you as I've been there and done my time. My two are adults and one is married with a 13 month old. I determined that sleep was before children. Thereafter, only in small amounts and not on a regular basis. I hate to tell you this but they turn into teenagers; whereas, you will continue to lose sleep. OH, and then comes menopause. Again, no sleep! By now I am use to surviving with little sleep. Four to five hours (on a good night) is about it for me. I must stay up late because if I go to bed too early, I wake up at 3:00 a.m. and can't go back to sleep. A lot of nights it is only 2-3 hours. For this reason, I have been known to fall asleep at my laptop, sitting up, hands still on the keys. Then there was the time I fell asleep talking to my son on the phone. And they call us the "weaker sex". I think not!
