Anyone else need to rant?

Sorry, but I need to rant! I hate laundry! OMG I do laundry almost every day! And I don't have little children. I don't have a huge family. I have 2 teens and a husband! It's never done, ever. I can do 4-5 loads a day and still it will be back tomorrow. In fact some of the same stuff is back tomorrow! Ok, I know what you're going to say! Why don't my kids do their own? Because I'm weak, I know it. I just want the house to be calm. Not alot of calm going on around here but that is a rant for another time! Anyway, thanks all for letting me get this off my chest. Anyone else need to rant?

LOL, I hear ya! I have 3 kids, 5 and under, and I do at least 3 loads every day (except for Sunday). I have a never-ending pile of towels downstairs. I don't even want to think about how long some of them have been dow there. I never seem to be able to get to them all!

As for the clothes, my youngest one just potty trained, so I seem to wash more of his clothes than anyone's! Lucky for me, 99% of DH's clothes get dry cleaned, so I rarely have his clothes to wash, and I don't have more than about 4 or 5 shirts and 1 pair of pants. So, all of my laundry is for my kids! Go figure!

Which reminds me...time to go switch clothes over!

Ya know what, now that I am doing laundry for only my two youngest kids (my olest two are out of the house now) it sure seems like I am doing more loads now then I did when all 4 kids were home!
My thoughts about my kids and the difference in time, it must be that I got too laid back and didn't keep on the younest two, to use the same towel more then once! I know my teenage (13) daughter throws clean clothes back into the laundry after she just tries them on!!
I find them and I honestly do not re-wash them again, I place them back onto her pile!
All I can think about is that I am on the downhill slide of childrens clothes and laundry, I already have 23 years in and only 6-7 left to go!!

OK- here's my rant LOL- thanks for starting this thread hehe!
TOYS- they're everyhwere! I've made a rule of "no toys in the kitchen", but still- arrrggh- it's non-stop!!! With 3 little ones- it's crazy! we have those plastic drawers, but they just get all over anyway!

I've tried the "no playing with different toys until the others are picked up", but it's so hard to enforce when I'm doing dishes or laundry or cooking, etc.

Ok- now I *do* have my laundry somewhat under control LOL!
This is what I do (I have DH & I, and then 3 little ones 5 and under)
I have 2 frames that hold 3 hanging mesh bags- so I have one for darks, another for whites, another for jeans, etc. Some of these start overflowing though LOL!

I empty 1 bag a day, Mon-Sat. So I do 1-3 loads a day. Sunday is catch-up day for blankets, etc. or if I'm behind a day. This way I don't have one huuuuge pile, I just worry about the day of the week that I am on- and I don't feel behind by looking at the other bags- they each have their day.

My kids are still young, but when they get older they *will* be putting their dirty clothes in the correct bin- LOL.

Also, if someone wants to wear the same thing twice or more in a week- then obviously you would have to wash it with a different load- such as the darks or towels- so they don't have to wait a whole week for it to be washed again.

HTH someone

Oh to be able to use a dry cleaner! But my dh is a repairman and boy would that cost a fortune! Especially since his favorite thing to do when he is home is yardwork. And boy do we have yardwork! 3/4 of a acre of trees and weeds! Alot of the time he works in the yard before and after he goes to work. That means 3 jeans, 3 t-shirst, 3 shirts and at least 2 towels a day just for him! Well at least he likes to do it or it would never be done either!

Laundry doesn't bother me now that my dh bought me a new washing maching last month. . .first new one in our 13 years of marriage . ..we've always bought used, but after two leaky ones . .I was using 3 towels for the floor for every load I washed, I was so thankful for my surprise!

The best way I've found to actually get my laundry done is this:

Set the timer on the stove!!! When it goes off I go change the laundry, fold what's in the dryer and PUT IT AWAY. It's so much easier to deal with one load at a time to fold and put away than it is to fold piles and piles of laundry. If I don't set the timer a load of laundry could sit in the washer and/or dryer for 2 or 3 days hehe.

I've also gotten my girls their own laundry basket with their names on them. As I fold their stuff I put it into their basket and then when they get home from school (or sometime before bedtime) they have to put their stuff away in their drawers and return the empty basket to me. (They also have a hamper they put their dirty stuff in).
