Attn Writers: NaNoWriMo 2003

That's NAtional NOvel WRiting MOnth, and it's pronounced Nah-no-rye-mo for those who are curious.

This is just my quick advert (nope, not getting paid or otherwise compensated, just excited!) for the writing contest now in its 5th year of existence.

The goal is to kick those of us with literary hankings into gear by providing an Internet outlet as well as support and fellowship for us as we churn out the stories with a deadline looming. NaNoWriMo officially runs from November 1 through November 30, and the goal is to write 50,000 words in those 30 days.

Sounds difficult, but it really isn't if you're dedicated to the task. If you 'make it' before November 30, you can email your manuscript in to be run through a word counter and get your name on the 'Winners' list on the site. There are also superfun teeshirts to buy to support the website's upkeep and to advertise how cool you are to the general public.

The message boards just opened today, so head on over and check it all out at nanowrimo.org. Sign up, too, and send me a message at 'wordyphotogbabe.' You're not allowed to write any of your story (or rework an existing one) until November, but you can brainstorm, outline, etc. and troll for ideas on the message boards until then.

Hope to see someone(s) over there!

oooohhh!!

ME ME ME!!!
I ALWAYS forget about this! I know it's there, I know I want to do it and then I forget! My first novel took 4.5 year to write and I KNOW I could do it faster and better now! Last year I wanted to do it but I had a children's story being published and had to re-write and re-write and it took the whole month.

This time I can do it!
I even have a running "Novel Ideas" file on my pocket pc I can draw from. Woo Hoo! I'm gettin ready!

If I don't send you a message within a week from the MB, pm me here so I will get my butt in gear!
