Movie Ticket Prices

Just curious, how much is it for a movie ticket where you live?

I live rurally and our small town theater charges $3.50 Adult, $2.50 Child. What a bargain! I went to visit my brother, lives near Leavenworth/Lansing, KS and almost fainted at theater prices there, $6.75 Adult, forgot what kid prices were. Probably from shock. Does anyone get this bargain price? What's the highest you've paid?

I haven't looked in our new town yet...but in Northern Texas we had 2 movie theaters close. One was older, and didn't have stadium seating so to compete was $4 at night ($2 for matinees, kids, etc.) we always went there. The other theater was $7.50! Like I care about stadium seating!

oh amanda, how can you watch if it's not stadium seating??? i LOVE that! course, i'd go to the cheaper one in a sec too! ours is around 8.50 i think, been a while. in columbus it's more though. we go to a cheap theater, with older movies in cincinnati, and it used to be 1.50, then 2. now it's 3.50 i think! joyce, both prices are a bargain there!! Well, tickets used to be $5.00, but everyone thought it was too expensive and didn't go. The chain that owned it has closed it twice because it wasn't making enough money.
This past year locals bought it and made a deal with the chain to get first run movies through them (yea!). So far, so good. Business has picked up for them with the lower price. Hope it lasts. I know I go to the theater more now that it is cheaper. Only .50 more than renting a DVD here and you get to go out and enjoy yourself.

At chain cinemas ( like Hoyts) adult tickets are $17.50 and Children/concession is $13
