Question Anyone using paypal...

Hey guys.

I'm trying to stop scrapping long enough to do a uni assignment, creating a nice little order form showing how clever I am at javascript etc... I'm nearly done but I need to add all the 'payment' details. I was going to check out the store here to see how payment was accepted etc, but of course it is down at the moment so..

I've got an option for credit card and required details already. I was going to put paypal as an option as that is quite common these days but I don't use it myself - what details do you need to provide in order to make the transaction?? Any other suggestions as to how I should allow payment on my form?

Thoughts appreciated! Thanks guys!

Anna

To take paypal, you have to be a member and the paypal site allows members to make custom buttons for each item, or a shopping cart. I believe the site here used zencart which has the credit card stuff already installed.

Why not just sign up at paypal, even if you never plan on using it, and make a buy now button?

to clarify

Thanks for that Amy, just to clarify though... I'm not making anything that will actually accept any payments... I just want it to look like it does. For example, with the credit card.... I've got boxes for the user to enter the card name, card number and expiry date. Then I just make sure they've put something in those boxes when I validate the form - but I don't actually run anything to check with VISA or whoever that they have provided a 'real, valid' creditcard.

So with paypal... after you click the 'buy with paypal' button - what is the process that i have to recreate? surely you must have to provide your paypal id or something similar so paypal knows which account to debit.

is this clear as mud?? Thanks!!
