Hobbies
It has been years since I have sewn anything. I used to do needlepoint and cross-stitch for hours, then we bought a computer: enough said
Now that I have to sit down and sew a blanket that is badly in need of repair I want to scream, so boring!! I like digital stitches much better LOL
What were your hobbies before the computer?

Its funny you should ask because my digital scrapbooking has been the culmination of a lot of hobbies I've had.......
I've always crafted with my mom, so I guess that was the start. Then in college I took a oil painting class, and that was very fun. Well once I graduated I still wanted to be "artsy" but didn't want to have the paints out all the time, so a good friend introduced me into rubber stamping. Before long I became a demonstrator for SU and kept myself in business! I loved making cards and pretty soon learned how to use the stamps towards scrapbooking the pictures I had been taking of our new life (new marriage, new apartment, new car, new Air Force lifestyle). I got together with a girl once a week to scrapbook and use my stamps.
Then when we got our puppies (now 7 years old) we decided to buy a digital camera to share our pics with our families easier. Then I went overseas and took a ton of pictures of our travel and really got into the "artsy" part of photography. I continued to stamp and scrap and used our time locked indoors during Typhoons to get a lot done!
Then we came back to the states and I decided that since my DH dropped our old digital camera, it was time to get a serious camera to take my photography to the next level. So I got my dSLR and a new Epson 1200 printer to print my pics out on! Then all was going good in my hobbbies area (scrapbooking, stamping, even painting a bit, photography and home decorating) until I had my DS.
Then it all stopped! I just couldn't bear the thought of bringing it all out and putting it away, and there was no way I could just leave it out! So I thought about hobbies, but didn't do any. One day I got a magazine off the shelf about this thing called digital scrapbooking and it had actual step by step instructions in it. On a whim I tried it since I had the program they were using (but never used sucessfully before because the layers thing confused me). After sucessfully completing the assignment, I noticed the place that a lot of the papers and stuff came from. I typed in the address (and you know what it was) and boom, pow, wheeeeeee, I was instantly hooked! So much free stuff, so much help, so much comradrie (spelled wrong), and so much ideas to look at!
So here I am today. I haven't digiscrapped in a while, only because I have a deadline to sew my DS's costume and I haven't sewed in years, let alone sewed clothes! So I would say this last month my hobbies have consisted of sewing, tearing, sewing, ironing, sewing and reading posts here on SBB and scrapbooking magazines.
Maybe someday I will take up another hobbie or two, but I will end up winding them up in digiscrapping as well! Its just the vortex point of my life!
Thanks for listening to me ramble!

There are other hobbies, Dani?
I was pretty crafty as a kid - latch hook, weaving, needlepoint. Before I started digiscrapping, my hobbies were baking, reading and hanging out in bars. I still collect a lot of stuff - postcards and Beatles memorabilia, although I try to avoid ebay because it gets me into trouble.

Dani,
Funny you should ask that - I just joined Ashley's ABC challenge and I'm going to make a book that's allowing me to combine my favorite hobbies before scrapping with scrapping; photography and collecting quotes, quips, isms, and journaling. Here is the link to my cover page: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/galle...0&ppuser=31071

My hobbies before computers:
Dog Obedience Trials
Provide therapy dog visits at local convalescent home
Knitting & Crocheting
Photography
Needlepoint
Collecting quotes
Except with working with my dog, I still do all of these hobbies. Once work settles down, I would like get back into working with my dog and get her certified as a therapy dog. Funny thing about my current dog is she is a natural therapy dog. My other 2 dogs really had to work to get certified.

My hobbies before computers~~~~
I used to do most of the crafts already mentioned except I never liked sewing, my mom is the seamstress in the family! When I sewed three leg holes into a pair of shorts, I quit!!
I was the arts, fartsie one but Mom was my big influence in all the needlework, cross stitching, crochet, embroidery.
I was big into painting crafts and cutting out the wood patterns on my scroll saw. I used to sell my items at the local church craft shows in the fall.
Ceramics, I did everything in groups of 4, so all my kids could have a complete set when I passed them out.
Macramae (sp) hanging flower baskets, necklaces, belts....
Then I had all the outside hobbies, a huge garden, a huge lawn, 8 horses and 4 kids, 2 dogs and 1 cat!! I used to love grouse hunting, dealt with deer hunting and still love to fish!! I love to go snowmobiling can't wait for a decent winter here!!
I love my life since I got a computer...gives me time to sit down for a while!!
Now my kids have a whole closet organized full of paints, brushes, threads, needles, patterns and everything under the sun to do projects with. I even bought them a sewing machine!!
