Gas panic!

Did everyone rush to buy gas today where you live? I saw some places were $6.00 for prem, totally nutty. People were so panic stricken even at the grocery store
Anyone else venture out with all the craziness??

But after watching the news today, it just made me feel very lucky to even have a home to go to KWIM it is such a tragedy.

No rushes around Des Moines IA. Gas did go up a dime and higher at a few places. Have seen it from $2.69 to $2.99 (not premium). I'm going to hate filling up my car the next time, but you're right...small price to pay compared to the people around the Gulf.

Allright...I saw gas go up 30 cents in 24 hours. I've got to rant about this. On Monday evening, it was $2.49 at the Conoco at the end of my subdivision. Tuesday morning at 10:30 it was $2.47 (yes...went down 2 cents). When I came back home at 3:00pm, it was $2.59. Then this morning it was $2.79. I'm writing to the Texas Attorney General's office about price gouging. I'm sorry...I worked for an oil company. There is no way the price of gas went up 30 cents in 24 hours. It's absolutely criminal

OK, off my soapbox now...

I am just sssooo glad that I traded off my gas guzzling Duragno RT 5.9, 9 mpg, June 1st for a Honda Civic LE. Gas is $3.09 in northern MN and BF is spending $90.00+ to fill up the work pickup trucks every other day!!
I think we should all stay put for even a week and see how the big oil people like it when they see us not giving into their high demands!!
I just don't believe that disasters like Katrina can have an instant effect on gas prices US wide!

PS. I think if they told us all the extra money that the oil men are collecting from us was going to help out the people in NO...we would all feel better about the prices. But just to gouge because they can is WRONG!
At this rate, many people will be financially hurt by these prices and then where will some families in the USA be? Homeless also...? Last year I spent $200.00 a month on gas just driving the kids to and from school because the buses wouldn't pick them up. This year it would have been $400.00+ a month, that is a lot of money to a SM. Imagine the cost to run school buses, right now it is free (to the parents) here for kids to ride, but for how long?
I am glad to see tonight on the news that other countries have been calling the White House to see if they can help us!! For that I thank each and everyone from those countries for caring about the old USA and that sometimes we fall to our knees also...

Same here Doris... DH said it jumped to that just in one day here too; we too have just been toppping it off when we head over the hill as the gas is cheaper over town and we live at least 20 minutes from it.

I agree... I feel blessed no matter the price of gas to have my family and home in tact.

I'm in SE Alabama. The gas price for regular was $2.54 on Tuesday morning and $3.09 on some filling stations this afternoon. Yes, I am very upset about the cost of gas, but I HAVE a car to put gas in and I HAVE a garage to put my car in. We have many refugees in our small town. These people don't have anywhere to go ... nowhere! Their missery by far outweights my being upset about high cost of gas.
