I feel like a TOTAL doofus for even asking this...

... but did anyone watch "Tommy Lee goes to College" the other night?

We were just clicking through, and I stopped because I saw the big red "N" behind the Dean as he was talking to Tommy at the very beginning, and since my mom's family is from Nebraska, I wanted to see if it was Nebraska. And holy @(%!!!, it was! (Go Big Red!!!)

Now, I couldn't pick a Motley Crue song out if my LIFE depended on it! (DH pointed them out to me when they played them during the show), and I am no fan of Metal or Hair Bands or any of the other skeevy things Mr. Lee is "famous" for, so I am shocked that I feel this bizarre compulsion to watch this show!!

And although he's having trouble with college Chemistry (and who didn't?), he seems remarkably lucid through this whole thing, and even sincere. I cannot figure this out!!! Did NBC give him a ton of money? Is he trying to clean up his image? Does he really want a college diploma? I have to know this!!

ANYHOW... I'm hoping someone else here indulged in the same guilty pleasure and wants to talk about it -- it's my new favorite show -- at least until some of the new dreck comes out and we have some more strangeness to laugh at....

I couldn't believe that I got caught up in it too. I would not admit this out loud. I think I have watched 3 episodes. But I don't know when the next is one. Hopefully I will catch it.

YAY!! A kindred spirit!!! I feel SO much better knowing I'm not the only one!! I think it's on Tuesdays at 9pm. I found the NBC website, the Lincoln Journal-Star's site, and one on UNL's site... (I am SO not well!!!)

I watched it too! I didn't know who he was either really. I liked metal 'hair' bands back in the day but I am not the kind who keeps up with the names. I thought it was funny to watch him try to get into the marching band.

Um yeah I watched it for about ten minutes. Right about the time he realized that Chemistry involved math, I lost interest. Although I did enjoy that DOH look on his face when he found out lol. I'll probably not be watching it, but then I am worn out of most reality shows already.

We have been watching it! I wasn't into those kinds of bands when I was in high school, couldn't have told you who he was back then. The show is hilarious, hard to tell though if it's all an act or if he's really feeling those things, KWIM? I loved it when his new room mate came back to the room and Tommy had redone the whole thing. LOL And when he was expecting his "hot" tutor and the substitute showed up and really got onto him about taking it serious. LOL

I haven't watched TV all summer, but for some reason I turned it on the other night and came across the show--I think it was two repeats in a row then a new episode? Anyway, I'm not a fan (of Tommy Lee or Big Red), but I watched out of curiosity. I never was in college marching band, but was in high school, and I was rooting for him to make it--he ended up working hard and doing pretty well for only a week of training. Not sure that I'm watch again, but I was somewhat amused at the time.....

I agree with Dianne -- I'm sick of the so-called reality shows, too -- that is I don't care for 99% of them. However, I do still LOVE Survivor -- the original reality show. But just that one show, no "Apprentice", no "American Idol", no "Bachelor", no "Fear Factor", no "Big Brother". Nope. Nada.

And I do like that they aren't calling it a reality show, but rather, an unscripted sitcom. Not that it's all that funny, as in ha-ha funny. And it is a bit scripted, actually, or at least contrived.

But what I find strangely compelling, is WHY???? What in the WORLD would compel Tommy Lee to do this? He really did stay every night in that dorm room, BTW. (I had to find out more, so I read the Behind the Scenes on the Lincoln Journal-Star's web site. They have a whole section called "Tattoo U" -- pretty funny!!).

College was fun, sure, but it was a lotta dang hard work! I remember Chem 101 and it was exactly like that! A big auditorium with those huge wipe-boards and your hunched over your little writing surface trying to comprehend all the math & formulas!!!

Oh well, I guess I am pretty easily entertained -- which is odd, because I only have a handful of shows I watch on a semi-regular basis:

Desperate Housewives -- (duh!) -- can't WAIT to see what's next on that one!!
Rescue Me -- keep forgetting when it's on, and I don't enjoy it as much now that I have kid of my own
Survivor -- no idea when that starts, and there's no point in reruns...
24 -- probably not coming back for a loooooong time while they figure out how to top last season
Six Feet Under -- totally over. Done-done. I cried my eyes out.

So there, more than you ever wanted to know about what shows I watch...
