Looking for song suggestions...

I'm working on a sleepy time CD for my newborn (I use iTunes)... and looking for good song suggestions other than Classical lullabies... Any favorites out there?

My BIL made a GREAT CD for my 1 year old -- the album (back when they HAD albums) is called "Peter Paul & Mommy" and it's Peter, Paul & Mary doing songs for kids! It's got "Puff, the Magic Dragon", of course, and a bunch of other great ones! I think he found it on one of those (iTunes) type sites.

And folk songs in general should give you lots of other good choices....

Return to Pooh Corner by Kenny Loggins was my first thought too! I still like to listen to that. He made a second one too, but I don't have it.

Also Collin Raye has one called Counting Sheep I think, and it's great, and lastly Linda Ronstandt did one too called Dedicated To The One I Love. These are all winners at our house! HTH!

There is a CD called "Star Dreamer" by Priscilla Herdman. I absolutely love it. I play it for my son every night, and it really does seem to calm him down. "Waltzing with Bears" is one of our favorites.

If you're looking for more popular songs that work for kids, a lot of songs come to mind:
Imagine, Bridge Over Troubled Water, You've Got a Friend (James Taylor), You'll Be Blessed (Elton John), Taking You Home (Don Henley), True Colors, You'll Be in My Heart (from Disney's Tarzan), Embraceable You...

OK, I can't seem to think of any more right now. If I do, I'll let you know.

Megan

How about "Let Them Be Little" by Billy Dean? Just be sure you have the hankies available!
