More time for CG Scrapbooking!

I think it is a sign that I need to do more CG Scrapbooking. I became a casualty of the IT industry decline today, no more job. So besides feeling numb and shaken, I'm trying to think of all the positives!

1. More time with ds
2. When dh gets time off, I will be off.
3. MORE SCRAPBOOKING!
4. Maybe my house will be clean?

So add to the list of all the fun things you can do in this world when you have extra time on your hands (and less funds).....

HI Kari! I am sorry to hear about your job. Having experienced many layoffs and plant closing myself I have to share with you that the old saying..."When the door closed a window opens!" is very true. My latest "door" was an unexpected plant closing. I was forced to seek a new profession in my mid 40s and I was divorced so no spouse for support. My father had recently died (I was still rocking from that blow!) but I used the support of good friends and family and the small money legacy he left and returned to college. After graduating, I had to move to a new state leaving behind children, grandchildren and all my siblings. It was very scarey and a really hard decision for me. To make a long story short....I ment my current husband of 5 years, made some wonderful friends, have a wonderful new home and am currently a stay-at-home housewife. The kids, grandkids and siblings come and visit and I return "home" about once a year. It was some of the most difficult years and decissions of my life but now life is good and we are happy and healthy. What more is there -- OH YES....the computer hasn't crashed in more than a year! Keep up the positive attitude -- look for those open windows -- and life will level out and be wonderful for you too.

Oh, Kari, that's too bad. Having been in this same boat (only deeper, dh and I both got hit) for over a year and a half, I know how it can turn your world upside-down. You have a really great attitude though. I'm sure everything will work out ok. I like your list, and we have definitely experienced the first one with our two kids. As for number 4... uhm, I think our house is actually messier, since we are here more to mess it up! LOL

Kim...I'm with you girl.

I got laid off Oct 16, 2001. Yep...that's almost 2 years of no work. Washington state has the country's highest unemployment rate though. And unfortunately project managers just aren't the first hired back.

But you're right...you have lots of time to tkae care of yourself and your family. And you do get tons of time to scrap and play. So enjoy your time off and get all the rest and relaxation in that you can. And don't waste time doing too much cleaning. After all, it'll just get dirty again.

{hugs} I hope to see you on the boards all the time now. No excuses.
