i love not having coats, great one, wouldn't have thought of it, but i certainly love that about summer!!
swimming
softball
walks in the woods
starry nights too (easier to spend more time looking when you're not freezing)
trying to convince josh when mars or venus is visible that it's not a star!
no wet puddles in the house from snow!
ice cream!
just the fact that it's not winter makes me happy. Ü

my absolute favorite is that the kids don't have school --

just being free to go anywhere anytime for the most part -

hanging out at the pool

Fresh cut gr*** -- but i'm sorry you ladies who are from the north country -- we get that here in winter too -- i know i know :P

Home made ice cream

definate fav. is the kids being home --

Absolutely NOTHING! I live in Florida and the summers are brutal!

I HATE THEM!

I begin to hibernate about the first of May and don't come out until the end of October.

It's too blasted hot to enjoy cookouts, or gardening, or walking, or anything that doesn't involve air conditioning!

It can also be a high anxiety time if a hurricane starts heading my direction!

Give me fall, winter and early spring anytime!

LOL Susan. I'm with you. DH and I are NOT heat people...that's why we live in Seattle. Of course, this has to be the hottest summer on record. I swear. if we don't get below 80 degrees soon, I'm going to go ballistic.

Ok....I do like the lemonade stands kids put up during the summer.

The wind.

I love the wind in my hair when I'm playing Navigator to DH's Driver with the window cracked just enough to blow the tendrils of frizzy hair by my face around and the sun beginning to set and shining down on DH's muscular arm and the radio playing a song I know all the words to without thinking.

I loved the wind, too, when a college friend of mine gave me a ride on his motorcycle one of the first days of summer with the sun just hitting the zenith of the sky. The wind pulled mischievously on my arms and legs, begging me to play, and whistled to me as it swirled around and over my helmet.

The sun and the rain are absolutes. There must be one or the other. The wind, though, is only a delicious possibility.

Thanks, everyone, for the reminders of all that is good about summer.
This one has been exceptional for me, personally.

Loved the week at the lake - no make-up, just lots of sun.

Early morning sunshine with birds singing.

No standing at the door of my closet trying to figure out what to wear to work.

My husband just finished getting his teaching license and has spent the summer at home catching up on house maintainence... So he's able to do more to help with day to day stuff.

Even the pace at the office has been slower the last few weeks.
