Unhappy Johnny Carson

I'm so sad. I just saw that Johnny Carson passed away from emphysema. He was a staple in our household. We have the tapes they made about the greatest moments from The Tonight Show, and we watch them on New Years Eve. He was always a light, even when the world was going through some tough times. Rest in peace Johnny, you'll be missed.

So sad :(

Your right Carla, he will be missed very much. He really was a pioneer in a lot of things and the laughter he brought into our homes will be always be remembered. Emphysema is a terrible way to die, so at least he is at peace now. *sniff*

I remember watching him every night for as long as I can remember. I would always laugh so hard at Carnac and when he had Joan Embry on from the San Diego Zoo. I think he will truly be missed.

Yes-I LOVED when he had the animals on the show! Absolutely hilarious, the one-liners he'd come up with when the animals did something unexpected.

so sad!

It really shocked me when I heard the news because I thought I heard that we was writing jokes for David Letterman.

I remember sneaking downstairs when I was in middle school to listen to his monologue when my mom was watching it at 11:30.

He used to always say "It was sooooooooo cold (or hot, etc.) this morning..." and the audience would all say "How cold was it?"

It was all in the delivery! His humor will live on!
