Unhappy Baby Pages - Designer's Block

Baby Pages - Designer's Block

My dd is five months old now and I still cannot come up with a decent concept for her new-baby page and a hospital page. I have plenty of pictures to work with and I have a lot of journaling to go with it. I should be ready to go and come up with something great, right? – Wrong! Nothing seems to be “good enough.” I have a total mental block. I am looking through the gallery and I see all these beautiful new-baby pages, but every time I start my own LO I think it’s ugly and not "deserving" of my precious baby’s pictures.
I am wondering if any of you experienced the same and if you got over it eventually and how. Or am I just really weird?

LOL, you're not weird!! I know exactly how you feel. I was (am?) the same way with my DD's baby book. It's such an important event and you don't want to look back in a few years and think your layout is no good! It's a lot of pressure! I ended up scraplifting a new baby layout to get started and I kind of mapped out what I wanted and how many pages I would need and went from there. I also used a kit for a couple of pages, that helped with the "designer's block." I know this isn't much help, but at least now you know you aren't the only one!

I used the templates from Anna Aspens Baby Daze Cd for my baby book. They're great on their own and very easy to customize if you want to. I was really pleased with the results I got and I managed to finish my book off really quickly once I got started. There's a gallery for Baby Daze in the Featured Product section if you want to check out some LO's.

the beauty of digital

The beauty of this format is that nothing needs to be permanent.... you can create something using a kit or whatever now, so that you have the journaling down b4 u forget it.... then you can go back in a few years when your techniques have improved, or your style changed, and re-do it or make changes... at least that's how I look at it...

I've been scrapping digitally for four years now, and have been using PSP for about 6 years... but I learn new tricks all the time! There's been a few times also, that I've started a layout, and had to leave it in my "Work in Progess" folder for several days or even months because it just didn't "feel" right. Plus my creativity comes and goes in waves. So today, I might be able to do 4 pages... but for the next week, nothing will come to me.... u know? Sometimes looking in the galleries for inspiration can help... and sometimes, I just have to wait for the next wave of creativity... *S*
