using uninstalled fonts in DIP9

Hi, could anyone please help me with using uninstalled fonts? I have downloaded a few fonts, but can't seem to use them in DIP. That's what I've done so far: I opened the ttf-file (the quick brown fox...), and then opened DIP9. So far so good, the chosen font is in the dropdown list, but when I try to actually use it, the letters don't appear in my project. I can see that I'm typing letters (the cursor is moving), but the letters won't show. Strange, isn't it? Or am I doing something wrong???

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jenny

This has happened to me several times. I finally had to download The Font Thing so that I could install a font that I want to use in DIP, and then uninstall it when I'm done, so that I don't have 10,000 fonts all installed on my computer.

To use uninstalled fonts:

IMPORTANT: You must CLOSE DIP first or it won't work.

Go to the folder you have your uninstalled font stored.
Click on the font you wish to use.
A window opens up showing a sample of the font.
Minimise this window.
Now OPEN DIP and your font should be useable.
Sometimes just inserting plain text won't work. If this is the case, use "insert shaped text".

Hope this helps.

thank you

I tried to use "insert shaped text" and indeed there is no problem at all. thank you for the suggestion.

now another one: is there a way to "save" the uninstalled font somehow with the project. When I save my page and re-open it later, the font won't show without re-open it as well. Do I have to make a list somewhere with which font I used in which project, or is there a simplier way?

thanks again...

Question

Mmmm.......I've never noticed it doing that before. Maybe because I have mainly used that method in Word and printed immediately. Shelleyrae may have the answer to this one.

Shelleyrae?????????
