Working with layers

I posted this on the beginners board but no one responded so I am hoping someone can help me here. This may be a stupid question but I need an answer. I am new working with DIP9 and need to know when selecting different elements, pictures and backgrounds to work with a layout do I have to select them one by one, place them on the layout or can I select them all and place them in stack and then place them where I want on my layout or is it more a think ahead process along the lines of working from back to front. Does this makes sense?

dru,

you can add as many elements as you want at a time. there is no need to add them one by one. when they are added you will see the pic of them in the stack . if you're needing them to overlap one another then move that particular element up or down (depending on whether you want in back or forth) in the stack. does that make sense?

Thanks Valerie, yes that makes sense. I was looking for an easier way to do it. I worked on my first layout and it really took a long time going back and forth to select elements etc.

Hi
I think I can help .. If you are using File ..Open to get elements pictures etc from your hard drive then you can select multiple files from one folder by clicking ctrl and then the files in that folder you want to open to your files list.
If however you want to open multiple files from lots of different folders or even just one or two then use drag and drop from the explorer window. Eg Open My Documents and minimise it so its smaller than the DIP screen and just drag your choices either on to your layout page or into the files stack and just navigate between folders.
Does that make sense? Is that what you wanted? let me know if I can be of more help
