Using dingbats problems

I am much more comfortable with DIP and Picture It programs. I think I have all of them. I only have DIP 7 and DIP8 installed, however.

I, also, have PSP6, PSP8, and Photoshop 7.0.

I love using dingbats to make my elements and I love using Super Blade Pro to color them.

We all know, most programs will open uninstalled fonts, however I cannot get the Microsoft products to do so. Does anyone know a way to do this?
I have reviewed many tutorials on PSP on the internet and they kind of leave it at making the items. Not turning them into pngs and having the dpi at 300.

I have learned many tricks to make white shapes in DIP, saving them as pngs, opening them in PSP8, using Super Blade Pro to make them beautiful, saving them as pngs, opening them up in DIP, removing the white background, and I have any awesome element with wonderful clarity.

When I use PSP8, the font size only goes as large as 72. I open a black background layer, apply new layer, type a dingbat (floating) in white and off white, apply the Super Blade Pro effect, remove the black background, save my pretty dingbat as a png. I then open it in DIP and the clarity is gone when I enlarge it.

When I enlarge the beautiful elements you guys share through all of the groups, the clarity is there.

Please direct me.

Thank you so much,
Jan

HI Jan
To use fonts in DIP without installing them you must open and minimise the font BEFORE you open DIP. If you find it doenst show up in teh font list first check the Insert Shaped Text or Text >Font options to see if it shows up there.
However this sometimes does still not work ..no idea why. You may find you need to install the font and then you can uninstall it later.
BTW SuperBlade Pro works in Both DIP7 and DIP9 so there is no reason you cant open the ding in DIp and work on it with SBP rather than having to switch between PSP and DIP

Shelleyrae:

I tried to thank you yesterday, however my reply didn't go through. I will try your suggestion.

You have been such an inspiration for DIP users. I found your tutorials at least 1 1/2 years ago on Scrapbook-bytes or when this site first began. I have learned so much from you and the other dedicated DIP users.

Thank you,
Jan

I had problems with uninstalled fonts and DIP9. Check out this post:

Uninstalled Fonts in DIP9?

I'm sure I was doing the open / minimize correctly, because it worked in PSE and not in DIP. I'm blaming the program.

Kinda frustrating, isn't it??

After you open the uninstalled font and then open DIP, if the font still doesn't show up you go to Text>Font and you should see it in the dropdown box from there.
