Cropping specific inch sizes

What is the quickest way to crop many pics on a scrapbook page into 2x2" squares? I have tried a simple crop, but you loose the rulers for inches. I tried a few other ways, but looking for a simple way to pull in several pics on a project and make little squares from each pic to create a border around the page.

thanks for your help.

What program are you using? I use Photoshop CS. In there you could use the marquee tool. In the options bar for the marquee tool (along the top of the window), you can tell it to do a Fixed Size, 2 in X 2 in. When you click on your layout, a 2X2 square of marching ants will appear. Then you just have to select the layer that you want to crop, move the marching ants to the area that you want to crop. Then, go to the Select menu and choose Inverse. This will select everything BUT that 2X2 square that you want to keep. Hit delete. If you already have all the photos that you want to use on your layout, just select the next layer that you want to crop, move the marching ants again, select the inverse again, and delete again.

Hope that made sense!

Two ways to do this:

1. You can crop without the rulers. Go to Crop. Select "custom". If your photo is 300ppi and you want a 2" square cut from it, just type in 600x600 pixels. Move the crop square over the section you want to keep. Click "done". Repeat with each photo. Now open your layout/new canvas and drag each one onto it and arrange.

2. Open a new canvas and size it to 2x2".
Insert a square, remove lines and stretch to fit.
Go to Effects/fill with colour or texture/picture.
Fill it with first photo. Size it to suit.

A. Right click on this photo filled square and "copy".
Go to File/New.
Right click and "paste".

B. Using this copy, go to Effects/fill with color or texture/picture again.
Select the next photo.

Repeat A and B until you have all photos done.

Open new canvas/layout and drag each photo filled square onto it and arrange.

Thanks Kim. I just never knew how to figure the inches into Pixels. I will give that a try.

You can use the Marquee tool in DIP also.

Just click on "ajust marquee" to make it a perfect 2"x2" square. I place the square at the top left corner and scroll to enlarge my pic. That way I can see exactly on the ruler if I have it at the right marking on the ruler - then you can drag your correctly sized square (or whatever shape) anywhere on the picture and copy that part of the picture.

Then paste it onto your layout or whatever project you are working on.

I am just starting to realize what I can all do with the marquee tool! What fun!!
