Using Curled Edges in DIP???

Hi guys!
Haven't been around in a while due to putting a cookbook together for my church.

I have a question though ---- I have just purchased a set of curled edges (supposedly with shadow but cannot find the shadow) to use in my layouts. My question is how do I USE them in DIP???? The instructions that came with them are for PS and don't work for DIP. The instructions for PS says to put your background paper on the layout, then the curled edge then the paper on which you want the curl. Then click on the curl to make it active and with the magic wand tool click to the right or left of the curl to select which side of the paper you want to keep. It says the selection should encompass the edge of the curl and the outer edges of that side of the paper. Then hit delete on the keyboard to delete that selection. Doesn't work that way in DIP and I cannot figure out how to do that. Does anyone know??

Thanks
Jazzys Mom

Can you use your magic wand tool to select the portion of the curl you want to have colored and then fill it with your chosen paper? That's how I've tried getting around using templates in PSD format. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (if it's too intricate, or not "colorful" enough for the wand to grab.)

HTH. If not, I'm sure Kimlizzy, Shelleyrae, or the others will pipe up with expert help!

Well, I tried using "fill with color or picture" tool and it fills the paper curl with the chosen paper but then the curl just looks like a flat paper tear. Very frustrating

Sorry Ive been away
They dont work terribly easily in DIP
You have to position teh curl where you want it on the photo and then select the paper layer on the stack - use the freehand tool to roughly trace inside the edge of the tear and then around the part you want to delete - delete tthat section.
Then select the curl and use TouchUp> Color and Saturation to color the curl to match your paper.
Ive attached a screenshot that should help

Thank you so much for your help. I was playing with it today and this is what I did and it worked pretty well.

I placed the background I wanted then another paper over that. Then placed the curled edge where I wanted it. I clicked on the top paper and then went to transparency brush. Picked hard brush at 100% and erased the paper up to the edge of the curled edge. Then went to colorize on the curled edge and colorized it slightly to match the paper I wanted to simulate curled. It worked well - even hubby said it looked real!
