Unhappy Help! How to set size of images or objects

Hi all - I am so frustrated. I am making a photo collage. I have set my canvas size to fit the picture frame I am using to display it. I have inserted my pictures and now need to change the sizes to make everything fit. I would like to be able to click on an image and set the size numerically rather than simply dragging the corner of the object. When I click on an image, then go to resize image, it resizes the entire canvas rather than that individual image.

I have the same problem with shape sizes. For example, if I want to insert a rectangle into my layout, how do I make it an exact shape (like 2.5 in by 3.9 in)? I know I can look at the ruler edges and drag the corner of the shape, but that only gives me an approximate size, not exact. Can anyone help me?

Thanks so so much!!!

What program are you using? In most programs you can use the crop tool and crop to any desired size and resolution. But you would have to crop the photo or shape (square or rectangle only) prior to taking it into your collage LO. Be sure to duplicate your original photo before cropping. Hope that helps.

I'm using Digital Image Pro. I'll try cropping before I put it in my collage.

I think what I really want to be able to do is to size and image or object just like you do in Word (even though that's not a photo program). You just right click on the object and can format the size on the spot.

Thanks for the help!

Hi kristommc
Unfortunately you can't in DIP
You can use teh ruler edges and if you zoom in you can get it pretty exact - teh rulers also move - sideways and up and down so you can move the rulers to your shape to ensure you are exact as possible.
Otherwise you can size each individually on its own canvas using Format Size
Open a blank Canvas and go to advanced to resize the canvas to the exact masurements you want.
Then fill that canavs with a shape and then drag that shape onto your layout. Fiddly I knwo but it works
Hope that helps

If you want shapes to be a particular size open a new canvas and make it the size you want your shape. Insert your shape and then Format/Resize image/Scale to fit. Now right click and "copy". Now go back to your other project and right click and "paste".

Thanks everyone - I wish it were simpler, but at least now I know how to do it!
