New DIP Anniversary Edition

The New Digital Image Suite Anniversary Edition has been released - but its no different from DIS 2006
The only difference as far as we are able to tell is that you recieve about $200 worth of freebies and coupons for paper, photo prints and magazine subscriptions

Soooo, is there going to be a new DIP or just a new DIS--or are they the same program? I don't have DIP, but I was thinking about getting it to learn so I can teach people who aren't willing to learn PS or PSE. But all I can find is DIS. So I didn't know if this was going to be the sole offering from now on, or if there is a disctinction. I'd prefer to just get the basic DIP if I could--unless there is some really good thing in DIS that would make it worthwhile over DIP.

Just a bit confused--LOL--and hoping for some help.

Thanks!!

DIS is just the name it is called now. eg. Digital Image Pro 10 Standard and Digital Image Pro 10 Suite. The only difference is that the Suite version has the Library (image organiser program) and the Standard version doesn't. Both versions allow the use of plugins.

In the 2006 version the Standard version doesn't allow the use of plugins. If is a dumbed down version so I wouldn't recommend it. If you are going to get the 2006 version make sure you get the Suite version so you can use plugins.

The anniversary edition is just a repackaged 2006. Nothing new. As yet we haven't heard anything about a new version being released. We had expected one in september but it seems that the anniversary one is it for now. Seriously, if you're going to buy DIS I'd recomment getting 2006 SUITE.

I used DIP 9 before upgrading to DIS 2006. I recommend getting DIS 2006. Basically the same, but some things just work better. For example, when you open a new canvas to paste something into - it is automatically sized correctly for whatever is on your clipboard.

I purchased DIS on eBay (new sealed package) for around $25. You can purchase any version on eBay for a great price.

DIS2006 is no different than DI2006 Anniversary except for the freebies - just like Shelleyrae said - but if you are purchasing for the first time go for DIS 2006 Anniversary

Keep in mind that the Anniversary Edition doesn't support RAW format so if that is something you need then go for the 2006 Suite.
