Talking Cropping a picture into a circle shape

Hi girls,

My name is Liel, a 37 year old mother of 2 wonderful boys. I live in Israel(10 years) but was born in Denmark.
I'm new to digiscrap but already love it - I finally have a hobby.
I try to crop a picture into a shape (circle etc) by using the marquee tool with lots of presets shapes. After I select shape and size by dragging etc. I don't know how to choose/cut my selection. The shape is on the pic but it doesn't get cut. No "done" button to be seen. Hope you can help me. I also tried to use a template (which format for DIP 10) but it won't work. Driving me nuts LOL.
Have a nice day.

Hugs Liel

Hello Liel! Welcome!

There are a couple of ways to crop you photo into a circle. One that comes to mind first is to do as you describ, select with the marquee the portion you want cropped, then hit
Ctrl D. This will give you a duplicate of the selection you have made, without cutting up your original (you may want other pieces from the original or want to even use it ole with the circular portion.)Just move them off from one another, and you'll see that you now have two- your orig and a circular one. Another way is to select as you did before, then hit
Ctrl C to cut and then Ctrl V to paste. Then just delete the original that now has a hole in the middle .
Hope thi helps.
Laurie

Now I saved it by deleting the first pic so the new selction is the only one to be seen but it also saves the white background and I only want the picture to use in my scrapping??

Hi Liel-
There is another way to do it as well. When you have the page you are working on open go to Insert> Shape> pick the circle. Then with the circle selected go to Effects> Fill with Texture or Color. Then pick picture (the little apple) and it will bring up your files, pick which file the picture is in then select the picture and it will give you a preview. Move the picture around or enlarge to get it where you want it and click done. Then you can resize your circle on the page to whatever you need. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Angel!
Will try that too. But how do I save without the background - like if I want to use the cropped picture in Paint Shop??

Thanks a lot.

Hmm, that I'm not sure. You might be able to copy and paste. I can create the circle with the picture and copy and paste into Photoshop, it might work the same in Paint Shop. Just right click on the circle and select Copy and then in Paint Shop try right clicking paste or go up to Edit > Paste
