Liel, you can save it as a transparent background if you save it as a png, and not a jpg. After you remove everything you don't want on your canvas and only the pic you want remains, go to File>Save As> now you will see a box with your folder to save it in and a couple of options at the bottom. One option will be to change the filename- no need to do that unless you want to as you are saving in a diff file format from your original so your original will remain intact. Okay, so beneath the name of your file is the file format. Right now, it is probably a jpg or jpeg, yes? hit the little arrow on the right and you'll see a drop down box. In that box, choose the top option Digital Imaga Pro -png. This will save your circular photo, and anything else on the desktop you may be working on as well and want to save. Your bkgd will be transparent. If you want the file a little smaller or don't have any componenets other than the circular photo you want to save, then scroll down in those options a bit and you will see Portable Networks Graphics (heee, I THINK that's what it says- I'm not on my own computer at the moment). Pick that one and hit save. This will save only what is on the actual canvas and it will have a transparent background.

Thumbs up

You're just the best!!! Will try this today.
Looked for the "done button" when I used the marquee tool but never found it LOL. Do you all use just DIP or also PSP?
Have a nice day.
Will report back if it works.

Hugs Liel

Liel,

You'll only see the "Done" button on the Marquee Palette if you have opted to "adjust marquee". Once you have moved or resize your selection you then click on "done". If you haven't needed to adjust the selection you won't see the "done" button. Just copy and paste as Shelleyrae described above.

Thanks for the refresher on cropping in shapes. I couldn't remember how!

Here is a way to do it with a few less clicks using the toolbar:

Draw your shape using the marquee tool. Click COPY on the toolbar, then click NEW

A new blank canvas will open - it will be the correct size for your image. Click paste - and that is it!

Hope this helps. I love DIS - and I am glad I found this place!!
