circle with several pictures

Hopefully I can explain well enough what I'm wanting to do. I want a large circle with several rectangle pics in the circle with the edges cropped off in the shape of the circle. So the end result is a big circle but there are several pics in it. Make any sense at all?

I've got my circle layer and my rectangle layer but I don't know which should be on top. I'm assuming I'm supposed to "no fill" both layers. Also, how to I get the circle shape as my final thing- not the whole canvas?

Open a new canvas and the pics you want to use. Insert a circle/no line onto the canvas. Recolour it to medium grey so you can see what you're doing.
Select the Marquee tool/square. Uncheck "keep ratios". Mark out the first part you want a pic. Go to Effects/fill with colour or texture/picture. Double click on the pic and resize to suit. Mark out the next part of the circle and fill as above.

Oh, and to save it as just a circle all you need to do is save as png. It might look like there is white behind it but that is only a blank canvas.

Okay, I just tried it and for some reason using the marquee tool on the circle gave me a complete square instead of the rounded part.

So.........do this.........when you mark out the part of the circle you want go to Edit/Cut/Edit Paste. Now fill that pasted part with the picture.

Mark out the next part, edit/cut/edit/paste, fill with pic. etc etc til your circle is filled.

OK- I've got my circle- no line- filled with grey. I selected marquee>square>uncheck shape proportions. Now- here is where I get lost. I put my cursor in the cirlce to make my square but I want the edges of the rectangle on the outside of the circle. Basically, I need a template that is a circle that has rectangle pictures in it. The pictures are cut off on the edges by the curve of the circle. I would rather make it a template so I can use it again. Make sense? Not much too me!

edit- ok you were replying at the same time so let me try the above

YEAH!!! It worked. Thanks soooo much. I've been working on this for HOURS. I've even been on google looking for how to do this. So- to do a template for future use- what are the steps? Pretty please?
