Kim,
By adding the white frames on the photo- how would you turn some to black and white. I tried layering the same pic one over the other (b&w and color). When I put my white square and fill with no color, I can't then use the transparancey brush to get to the bottom layer.

If you want some black and white and some coloured:

Open your coloured photo. Duplicate and turn to B&W. Drag the B&W one to the bottom.
Select the coloured photo. (You MUST make sure the coloured photo is selected or it won't work.) Use the Freehand Trace tool to mark around the frame. Click through the middle of the frame - not on the edges. Go to Edit/Cut. You should have the B&W pic showing. If you want to do a couple at a time make sure you have the little + sign ticked on the Freehand Tool Palette first.

Here's a quick example. Take no notice of the wonky frame. I just did it quickly. LOL

Ok- I tried Samantha's way- which worked wonderfully and now I want to try Kim's way and see which works easier for me. Kim- I have a question. I got to the part where everything is all done- frames are there- some are b&w. Now I need to cut off the edges. Do I use the freehand tool and trace around all the frames? That's what I did but then what- cut, delete, duplicate. I can't get it to get rid of the outside stuff.

EDIT-- nevermind- I figured it out. Have to lock all the layers together, including the b&w- that's what I was missing.
