Question Collage Using Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10

I want to make a collage using Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 which I have had for 6 months but never tried.

I bought a frame that has 15 inserts ranging from 1 1/2x3 to 4x6. How do I come up with the odd size pictures I need; like 1 1/2 x3 , 2 x 2 , 2 x 3, etc.

I could use some very detailed yet EZ instructions if there is such a thing.

Thank you very much. Dorothy Bowelman

GO INTO FILE, NEW, INPUT YOUR SIZE. OPEN YOUR PICTURE AND DRAG IT ONTO THE RIGHT SIZED CANVAS (RESIZING TO FIT, DRAG THE BOX ON THE CORNER OF THE ITEM TO KEEP IT IN PERSPECTIVE). WHEN PRINTING MAKE SURE YOU PRINT EXACT SIZE.
OR:
MAKE A NEW CANVAS THE SIZE OF A SHEET OF PAPER (8.5 X 11 DEPENDING ON PRINTER) INSERT, SHAPE, PICK THE SQUARE SHAPE, USING THE RULERS, RESIZE IT TO WHAT YOU NEED. DO THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL THE SIZES YOU NEED (OR A FULL PAGE! REMEMBER NOT ALL PRINTERS PRINT TO THE EDGE SO IF YOUR'S DOESN;T THEN LEAVE A MARGIN AROUND THE OUTSIDE) CLICK ON ONE OF THE SHAPES, GO TO EFFECTS, FILL WITH COLOR OR TEXTURE, PICK PICTURE, NAVIGATE TO WHERE YOUR PIC IS ON THE COMPUTER, AND JUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.
**MAKE SURE TO ALWAYS PRINT AT EXACT SIZE OFR SOMETHING LIKE THIS**
HOPE THIS HELPS
YVETTE

Thanks for your assistance. Where I get confused at is my goal is not to print it at home but to upload it to Wink or someone for photos. Does that change the instructions? Do I have to order a 4 x 6 for each one and then cut out what I need on pics that are for smaller sections of the frame? Or for the smaller ones do I order a 4x6 with a few of the smaller ones in it allowing white space between them. I am slightly learning disabled so please excuse questions that seem and/or are ignorant. Dorothy Bowelman

"do I order a 4x6 with a few of the smaller ones in it allowing white space between them?"

You are heading in the right direction! Take Yvette's instructions--File>New>Select Canvas Size. For the canvas size choose 4x6 (in DIP9 that is the default size). Now add your pictures to this canvas. Resize and crop them until each individual picture is the size you want (Use the rulers that are at the top and left side of the canvas to "measure" your picture. If the rulers aren't there, click "View" and make sure "Rulers" has a checkmark by it. If it doesn't, click on it.)

In order to upload for printing you will need to save this project as a .jpg. You may also want to save as a .png so you can edit it later if you need to. After you upload your image order a 4x6 print. When you get your prints, cut out the individual pictures and throw away the scraps!

Additional assistance/suggestion from another source:

The only step they omitted is that your basic canvas...
4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc....must be filled with a color
or an image...and the smaller images layered on top
of it. Otherwise, it will not print the correct size.

The finished image you receive from the online
printer will be the size you specified...4x6, 5x7,
8x10, etc...and you can cut out your special size
images with scissors.

If you are still confused...all I can suggest is that you
experiment until you understand the instructions. I
have uploaded an example of a 4x6 canvas with a
blue background and two 2x3 images. Maybe this
will give you a better idea.

Thanks to everyone for their help I will try tonight & let you know either way how it goes. Again THANKS. Dorothy
