I just got my DIP in the mail so I'm really new at it and don't know how to do anything! I did the tutorial on how to do a basic page layout using the tools within the program itself.. What I would love to see is how to do a layout using a KIT with backgrounds, elements, etc. I don't even know how to import all that stuff from a kit into my layout. And- stacking- what the heck is that. I guess I'll figure it out. Like I said, I just opened and installed- so not quite there yet. I here it's the simplest one to use of all of them out there. I can't wait to learn it and be good at it.

On the right hand side of the screen you will see the Stack and Files. The Stack shows the layers on the current canvas. The Files show all opened files. If you don't see the Stack and the Files: On the Toolbar you will see the stack and files buttons. Just click on those and the Stack and Files will appear to the right.

To use a kit:

Open a new canvas: File/New and size to suit.

Open your kit elements: File/Open and select the pieces of the kit.

You will now see the kit pieces in the Files on right of screen.
Left click on the background and drag it onto your canvas and position.
Left click on the next kit piece your want and drag it onto the background.
Continue in the same manner until you have all the pieces you want on your layout.
You can left click on each one and move into position.

In the Stack you left click and drag to rearrange the order of your layers. For eg. if you want the last thing you dragged onto the background to be underneath something, left click and drag the last item down on the stack until it is in the correct position.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both! I got a little crazy the other day and printed out every single tutorial in DIP and put them in a binder with tabs. Call me anal!!! I'll go find those tutorials and I'll also try Kim's step by step. Can't wait!
